To deal with the visual quirks of google maps, you should add a stylistic filter to everything which would make the textures feel more intentional, also its pretty sad you wont be updating this game anymore it has a lot of potential, still looking forward to whatever you have planned in the future

You should make lower resolution textures for the zombies, and a low poly model, it will be hard to notice a difference because they are so far away.

they're already low resolution enough cleaning up the code for the player character would be a bigger boost to framerate, as long as he's using occlusion culling... which he has to be, because google earth is literally 3000 terabytes of shitty lowres jpeg

Damnnn this has so much potential: Tip: Make the characters more colored. The background is super dull and dessaturated. Make them just a little more vibrant and they will be more visible against the bg :) Also: Melee weapons.

I would say run it through a bit of AI to add a few triangles, clean up some corners, and stylize some textures, plus put some procedural generation in wilderness so you ain't running around on a flat image of a forest

Hey dude, weird suggestion that might help with graphics and artstyle; Nearest neighbour texture filtering. Lower the resolution of the textures of the city until you can't see the compression noise anymore, and just set it as nearest neighbour. At least experiment with it. I'm not sure how your materials work, but I feel like there's a LOT that can be done to actually make the game look tangibly contiguous in its artstyle. Are you able to make this project open source? I'd love to mess around with it!

This looks really cool. For the items you could make the camera orbit a point which is the average of all the items and the player but zoomed in. I bet theres some library which you can use which handles weird camera shenanigans

I forget what it's called but there's already another game that lets you select anywhere on the planet (allegedly) to play in. And it has zombies. The problem is it doesn't seem to actually take local characteristics into account. Even if I could load up my local area in the UK (I believe it was not available in the demo) the idea of looting houses and finding weapons in them makes no sense in the UK. Oh of course. Infection Free Zone is the game.

4:59 - How about instead of "can't move while reloading" reloading speed is slowed down while you move. That way, it's still a risk, but not a forced one. Alternatively, reload speed is quicker when you're standing still. That way, there's a natural risk/reward of needing to move or wanting quicker reload. "Should I keep running for a slight;y slow reload, or take a brief moment to reload my gun quicker?"
