I don't know if you were doing a bit with the cheese, but in case you wanted an infodump: Cheeses use different cultures of (usually) bacteria to ferment the milk (however Camembert for instance relies on a fungus - hence you get that pretty white layer at the top). The fermenters eat the sugars in the milk (usually lactose) and slowly turn the milk into cheese. So, if in Maks instance some bacterial culture, which is usually involved in cheese fermenting processes, found its way to the mozzarella stick, it may turn it into a different cheese... Although I don't think you'd technically be able to call it parmesan. It would just be fundamentally different due to the loss of all the sugars and other nutrients usually needed to make parmesan from the get go, so... New cheese? However there's certain mould and bacteria which are not good for you, not turning your baby cow juice into cheese, but rather upsetting your stomach or even making you ill - and I don't think that constitutes as cheese. This is all coming from a vegan scientist who was determined to finally make good vegan feta and got a whole book about Feta and its cheeses from the university library 🙃 it did not go well but here's the infodump, take it with a pinch of salt

The point of a spark is to ignite a flame. The sexual intensity of the first couple of years definitely tapers off, but long-lasting passion and companionship is cultivated by the care you feed into each other along the way. Our eighth anniversary is next week and I still find myself blown away by how wonderful he is. We've been through a lot together - death in the family, infertility, a pandemic, the intense long-term stress of me going back to school - and it's been the safety and security of our relationship with each other that's kept us going through hard times. Just thinking of his face makes me smile. We are more in love now, after all these years and difficult things, than we were in the beginning, and that love gets deeper and wider all the time. ❤

Comment coming from a place of compassion, please don't harass me in the replies: Followed this from the start and loved having a space to feel uplifted and represented with great humour, but seeing how things have gone down I just cannot keep watching without feeling uncomfortable. Not only because of Ashley's response to her actions, but Alayna and Mak's compliance in following along with it. Conversations may have happened in private, but from the outside it really looks like "Nothing happened, moving on as usual". The fact I even feel unsafe posting this because of Ash's growing habit of dunking on people who comment and calling them names I think says enough. Hope you guys can grow from this, thank you for all the laughs 💛

Cheese isn't broadly moldy, though there are a lot of different cheeses that include mold. Cheese is made with bacteria, not mold, so it's arguably spoiled, but it's a big difference. Also, expiration dates are specifically when the quality of the product diminishes enough that the company won't stand by it, but while that quality goes down some, it's not immediately bad food. Some stuff I'm not testing, other stuff I'll eat with no concerns if the package is sealed for months after the date.

Yes, unintentional mold on cheese is most likely a unhealthy one that produces toxins, not one that cures the cheese (safe inoculated fermentation). Also, if food is moldy before the expiration date, unopened and stored at the right temp. at home, you should file a complaint because this seems like there was a big failure to control the temp. somewhere in the cold chain or a contamination in production. This would be a cause for call-backs plus FDA regulation were probably not upheld. Last but not least, please think of the animals and their subjective experience in factory farming.

Cheese, yoghurts and such are not made using mould (as in fungi). They are made using bacteria. There are exceptions of course like cheeses like brie and roguefort, but those are also initially made using bacteria and later finished of with fungi. but when it is moldy (all over), chuck it! It is bad.

on the topic of expiration dates, especially if you're on the ashley's family side of not eating food as soon as the expiration date passes, i WHOLEHEARTEDLY recommend watching the youtube video "your food is lying to you" by climate town. it's not only educational but the guy is very comedic in his delivery. in summary, expiration dates are pretty much bullshit and just estimations made companies that don't actually correlate to when the food will be bad for you to eat and you should rely more on a 'smell test' to check if your food has gone bad. people throwing out "expired" food without even checking to see if it has gone bad is the source of SO MUCH food waste. please watch the video to educate yourself & your loved ones so you can contribute less food waste!

Re expiration dates: there are two types Best before And Use by Best before you have flexibility with, give a few days more or less! No issue there as long as it wasn’t opened. Usually vegetables and specific produce Use by meanwhile is generally for meat etc and you should NOT use the meat after that expiration date since you are more likely to hurt yourself! Especially with meat and fish and some fresh products. Of course you can prolong these dates by freezing food!

I'm also with Jen: The expiration date is a minimum (so you'll get a replacement if gone bad before/when opening before that date) - I was taught to use sight, smell and taste to determine if food was still good. When in doubt, I'll throw it out. When it comes to meat and eggs I'm with Ashley: That risk is too big; I'll throw it out the day of the expiration date if I haven't made it. :)

For anyone concerned/not in the know yet on moldy cheese etc.: General rule of thumb is that mold on fruit/joghurt/liquids and soft things means you need to throw the whole thing out! Mold on hard food can be cut off/out (generously!) and then you can still consume it. So, hard cheeses, cut the mold out, and/or wipe down with vinegar and enjoy. :) *Hard exception to the rule is bread - always throw out moldy bread if you don't wanna risk your health!

It’s hard to ignore the situation that happened. Influencers don’t always handle things as everyone thinks they should, and obviously they can’t please everyone. But i think the only way, Ashley, your apology will actually be taken seriously is if you truly change your actions and think before you say something as cruel as that to a fan. It was not a joke, it came from what sounded like real anger. I get not wanting to bring up shit in ur past but if this has happened many other times it should be something you address if you want people to take you seriously. I really want to keep listening to the podcast because it was my favorite part of Wednesdays but i find it really difficult after hearing the audio and how extremely hateful and violent the words that you said to a fan were. I came to this podcast supporting Alayna and then found Mak and i wasn’t aware of Ashley until them. Although i didn’t start as a fan of Ashley i started to understand a bit more of how their dynamic works together, but at this point it’s incredibly hard to stand by and support someone who told someone to unalive themselves. And their mom should have “unalived them at birth”. This is not trying to “throw out a person”, it’s just really hard to listen to someone after hearing them say that.

Love y’all but disappointed you didn’t address the audio from Ashley’s Indianapolis show and the other people saying the same thing happened to them at other shows. Would really love to hear you all have a conversation about it from the perspective of accountability and restorative justice! I think it could be a really good opportunity to talk about violence people in the queer community enact on others as a result of their trauma (but not excused by their trauma) and how we grapple with that as a community and heal. It was a big deal to some people, it wasn’t a one time thing, and sweeping it under the rug doesn’t help the situation

Absolutely! I’m disappointed with the response to not only what happened In Indianapolis, but also the fact that there was a plethora of people who came out with similar experiences about Ashley’s shows. I’m not caught up to the podcast (I got to episode 13 by the time I heard about what happened), but I will not continue to support this podcast until I see more of a clear effort to learn from what happened and ensure it doesn’t happen again. One apology/one DM and immediately moving on doesn’t show that. I also saw the podcast’s pinned message on a previous episode, and I still feel that it’s not enough to genuinely navigate this situation.

To be fair, they probably have a lot of pre-recorded episodes, this conversation might have happened before that situation came out. Otherwise the Danny vibe check bit would have been a bit too on the nose imo! I do wish there was a convo about it all, cause I don't have tiktok and apparently it was addressed on tiktok but I haven't heard anything else besides. I've never loved that type of humor to be fair, and all the stuff about how the audience is gen z woke and doesn't know or understand comedy (and are therefore a bad audience) rubbed me the wrong way, would love to see that discussed, but I'm sure they have recording schedules and constraints.

People have already answered this but Mak's cheese would not turn from Mozarella to Parm. While fermentation is one factor in cheesemaking, what determines the type is more so the culture and the method you use to make it including how it is pressed. String cheese and cheese sticks are also heavily processed in comparison to fresh/homemeade/unpasturized cheeses so its even less likely.

Expiration dates are for the stores. Foods don't suddenly turn poison once they pass the "best by" date. They might be stale or not as fresh, but you should use your judgment in figuring out if it's safe to eat. The big food bank I volunteered for didn't worry about most expiration dates on non-perishable goods & usually had an extended date for things that are "expired" (e.g., 6 months extra for cereal & salad dressing). Throwing away at the food bank was more to assure the clients the food was okay.

Making some space here for those of us that are trying really hard to move past Ashley’s actions cause they really love this podcast but aren’t quite there yet. Hoping that somewhere in the next few eps something is addressed further cause Ashley’s attempt to contain this just to tiktok isn’t the vibe.

same, I really wanna enjoy this ep like the ones before, but it kinda has a bitter taste

Realistically, what else are they supposed to do? Ashley addressed it and apologized to the person. Mak and Alayna weren't even involved but still addressed it. What would another apology even look like, ''i apologized but i'll do it again i guess''? At some point you gotta move on
@katysuminski7331
@katysuminski7331 Жыл бұрын
@@Koppy221 there’s LOTS more to it. All three of them treated it like it was a “one off” accident when there’s an entire group of people who have come out of the shadows saying Ashley did the same thing to them at other shows. Real accountability would be Ashley actually acknowledging this and talking about how they plan to change their approach to comedy going forward. I think with the kinds of vulnerable conversations that happen on this podcast specifically, its necessary here in order for listeners to truly feel safe. That’s the whole point of having this “chosen family”.

Yes that whole bit of roasting Alayna for trying to be a decent human and having her things edited to be respectful got me really pissed off because at least someone is trying and they were really trying to make that sound like a bad thing idk I've unsubscribed tho... The vibe was violent ✌🏼
