That was very interesting turtle boy. I'll keep watching. People think turtles r slow. I cn a huge snapping turtle the size of a tire his nails were about 5 inches long he had spikes on his tail. It looked prehistoric. I got out of my car 2 push him off the road but he was 2 heavy. Suddenly he came out of his shell truned around leaped @ me he stood up on all 4s & chased me about 3 yards. That turtle was not slow! Snapping turtles in Michigan dont get pushed around.

I'm curious, do the flat 90 degree brick or any kind of wall actually help? my old rock pond have cement wall in the shape of fake rock and all turtles in my childhood (mines and my siblings) escape. To make things worst it's the red ear slider, an invasive species in my area. The cement pond do have low spot where turtle might climbed out and maybe due to ignorance by not providing basking area (since we're children) the turtles have enough of the pond and escape.

@dantheman57456 жыл бұрын
It took many years for me to realize it was probably raccoons that absconded with my pet box turtle, Fred. I thought I was doing him a favor when I left him outside one night in an area I had closed off with some pieces of wood that he wouldn't be able to climb over. Next morning, he was gone. I was probably about 10 at the time and was devastated. I felt so stupid. Poor little guy. I wish someone had told me what a bad idea that was.

i noticed a friend of mine hadn’t been taking care of her pet turtle right; as in no care for the tank, the food was expired, and there was no lamp to keep her (her, as in the turtle) warm. she gladly gave her turtle to me (it was barely 20cm long atm), as she knew i already had six that are in good care. the reason why i couldn’t release the turtles i have and the turtle from my friend into the ponds and such, it’s because all of the ones that are around are polluted (indonesia, typical). now, barbara (the turtle), is growing better and i feed her processed pelts and fruits and a good amount of sunlight, not to mention that her tank is cleaned ever four days.

Everyone who has a garden should try to make it as wildlife friendly as possible. Ponds, patches of long grass and wildflowers, stacks of rocks and logs and tree branches etc, birdhouses, access in fences to allow animals to move from garden to garden. Not only are you providing valuable habits for native species, but it is a great way to spend your free time. My friend here in the UK has native British frogs and newts, hedgehogs and foxes, mice, many species of spiders and insects, many types of wildflowers and many types of birds that live or visit his garden. His neighbours have similar sized gardens and ponds etc and his whole area has become a sort of mini suburban wildlife conservation area. With badgers and squirrels etc living in the immediate area. Several people kept native snakes and lizards as semi wild pets living outside, and over a period of a few years they have gradually moved out into the neighbourhood and apparently into several local parks and the surrounding rural areas. So types of snakes and lizards that were previously uncommon have been reintroduced and have increased their local population due to the help of a handful of amateur gardeners and wildlife enthusiasts.

I have a red ear slider named Altoid. He’s a few months old and he’s the sweetest turtle I’ve ever had. My other turtles were always feisty. They’d bite me, run away from me and everything. But Altiod loves to watch me. He always surfaces when I play music and I just love him all in all. He’s currently on a dried insect/shrimp diet and he lovesssss fish pellets for a snack. I love him even more because my crush bought him for me after weeks of talking about wanting a pet turtle. We went swimming and a guy was selling turtles on the side of the road (very common in Philadelphia) & I picked him because his shell has a bit of a defect. I wanted him to go to someone that would care for him and make sure his shell would harden and get healthy again. He absolutely lovessss basking and I’m thinking about building a mini pond using a kiddie pool in the backyard for the summer time. Since he’s small I can take advantage. I’m thinking about starting a KZbin channel for him.

It's funny how you named the spiny softshelled turtle "Darwin" because it looks and acts exactly like turtle from The Amazing World of Gumball.
