I’ll always be grateful to the Department of Defense , I’m what I am today because of the Army. I did my basic training in 2003, then got lucky and went to university at Army expenses, after the army I’ve worked for Sasol, Shell (abroad) and now at a Nuclear Power Plant halfway across the world. It all started at 3 SAI Battalion in Kimberly.

M’y husband is a Captain In Military. He has been deployed to so many countries outside SA because of War. There’s deployment every year and stay 6 months or 12 months. I’m glad my husband moved from infantry to Technical. I was afraid for his life and becoming a widow at a very young age….

It is really difficult to try explain the military in an episode. There is so much to talk about. Young men and women get taught about so much, fitness, health and mental fitness, independence, team work and respect. Opportunities in tertiary institutions. Women are now given a voice and priorities in all spheres. Capt Zondi wrote a book explaining this way of life, " Not an easy Battle ". ARMED FORCES WEEKS rotate around provinces every year around February educating South African communities about opportunities in the Military. TV programs, Defence news pages, Facebook pages, there is so much to grasp about the military, I am proud to be in the Military.

SAHMS January 2007 Intake - Lohatla. Unfortunately corruption happened and here I am. Unemployed and depressed. The military can either make you or break you. But if it does break you, be assured it'll first make you....and I mean make you. The best thing that can happen to you when u join the military is to get absorbed after the 2yrs. From there the sky is the limit. The Reserve Force is the pits.... but ke life happens, we move on

All things work together for good child of God. If God wanted you at SAMHS you would've been there whether there was corruption or not. Who knows, maybe you are going through what Joseph went through

Would have been nice to answer the question "does she think SA can go to war, real war" not deployment" Are they adequately trained?. I have a few friends who are in military and they All want out. I knew that they all went in for security not because they love the country or understand what is expected of them. I really have no confidence in the SANDF at all. It could be because of my outside experience of the members' lifestyle.

Ha never under estimate a black mother who wants you to do what she wants because she thinks it's how you will suceed. My mother also applied for me to study a University degree she wanted. I had applied for other things. She recieved all my mail and cancelled my application/rejected my acceptance. I saw it , she did not know I did. She told me I was only accepted for her degree. I did it but where I am today, is more where I would have been if I did my degree. Actually I can't even say it because I am here because I took the road of obedience. So sometimes other things are just lessons. My mom is my super hero.
