I have been pleasantly surprised to see that wages are much higher than I expected in SA. Seems that 20,000- 25,000 rand net, per month is quite normal.. This is much higher than many countries in the world.. I guess the real issue in SA is not the pay, but to get a job...

That's a good point, but one of them said they don't have medical aid. They have to pay for their own medicine. Also I might stay in the military but I still need to buy my own house etc but I do get your point. It's a valid one.

Thobani my brother you're wrong there. •If you stay in the military base, you're paying rent. •Most of the payslips reflecting here are not staying in the military base, hence they're getting R1500 housing allowance, they're home owners.

We dont deploy all the time. When we are home, which is most of the time for the most soldiers, we pay the same prices for the same goods that the rest of SA citizens pay. We make a lot of sacrifices that ordinary citizens dont make but no one sees that.😢
