I remember going on a school trip to the Reliant factory in the mid 90's, was just how you imagine it old boys smoking wearing brown work coats. Really were marvellous times!

Ahhhhh, back when we still thought there was a chance of saving the country. Those were the days.

That’s what happens when you enhance in too much trade with an enemy like the US. Success at the cost of the commonwealth costed us all.

Wasn't Del Boy's a Regal as that was the van as opposed to the family saloon four seater Robin? Still, I bet both keeled over taking a bend at 40+ mph.

Did I mishear or was a factory of 2000 people only turning out 40 cars a week? This sounds extremely inefficient even for back then or am I wrong?
@chrisdavidson9117 сағат бұрын
misleading information, they say up to 2000 people but not when, there was a time when they were more than only cars, and even then they were doing over 300 a week during the 1960s. At one point the Robin was the world’s most-produced fibreglass car, more than the Corvette. They might’ve been down to 40 a week when they went bankrupt. The production was hand layup though, so it was labour intensive and partly to blame for why Reliant struggled when it came to profit margins.

They also done a lot of fibreglass products outside of cars. Bodywork for trains, busses etc.
