This video covers a few really useful things to know about Relic Flow, the new Alexander Zolotov app, a successor to the popular Relic Waves and Fractal Bits apps. Note that this app is useable standalone on all platforms, including Android, and also as AUv3 on iPad, iPhone and M1 Mac apps.apple.com/app/relic-flow/id6499490810 The most important thing covered in this video is batch export of sounds from the AUv3. A few other things covered are the difference between this and Fractal Bits and Relic Waves, the Lock and Hold functions, seeming lack of ability to tune individual sounds independently (see though a comment below, rightly pointing out that a) you can load these in Sunvox and manipulate speed and pitch there b) ability to do this inside the Relics Flow app after having generated a sound would require use of an expensive algorithm like Elastique), a seeming bug (the app has just been released) where the BPM inside the AUv3 does not sync to the host BPM as is normally the case with AUv3 (also pointed out in a comment below that this is not a bug but a feature. Nevertheless, this is still not standard behaviour from an AUv3 and many users will likely conclude that it's a bug). Overall though, despite some niggles, this is a great app for generating interesting little rhythmic loops and I heartily recommend it at its very generous $2 price point!

To export, create the directory as you have done in the video, but don’t press OK just yet. Tap the new directory to go into it, THEN hit OK. Your wavs will be in the new directory. You can then export to the ios file system as you show in the video. Much quicker.
@GavinskisTutorials7 ай бұрын
Cheers Kev, what part of this is different from what I did in the vid? Did I not tap the directory to go into it? But yeah, anything faster is better. I also realised just now that I am unclear how to simply save files to an existing directory without writing over it. I really strongly dislike the menu system in this app. I know for some users it may be logical or whatever, for me and many others, it definitely isn’t!

@@GavinskisTutorials From what I recall, your process involved pressing “export to wavs” twice, and pressing “system export” once. You can cut out one of the “export to wavs” steps.

@kvmorgan1 I would need to watch it again, lol. That’s how unintuitive and hard to remember this process is for me - just one day later, would still probably mess it up without looking at my written notes lol

IT certainly does John!! There really must be a way to implement a more intuitive way to do some of these things, particularly the batch export from AUv3 to a custom-named folder

What if we want different bpm’s in the app and host simultaneously? Maybe a lock function will satisfy most?

Yeah, good to have an option for both I guess

Yep, that needed some explanation. 😊 Sync and individual pitching would be great! I also had a note latching and I couldn't unlatch it, maybe it takes some getting used to... Still cool for experimentation. Thanks for the tips!

To recall the whole batch, isn't it enough to memorize the number of the code on the left and then click on it and rewrite it?

@PeterPrism ok lol, but let’s be honest - that is still unintuitive. It can’t be hard to do it a little more conventionally surely. People like quirky apps,, but mostly not when it comes to being able to do simple tasks. Fine for the hardcore tracker nerds etc, but not for most people!

@@GavinskisTutorials fun to share in this way, I write “hallo” and you writing the same word can have the same set 😀

What do you earn exactly, though, ‘click on it and rewrite it’? You have to write out the code again? If so, where? It is things like this that are simply not obvious at all for me and most other users, if discussion in the ABF is any indication

Export much easier in standalone, in the AUv3 it is convoluted - at least, doing it this way, which is the way I was taught, keen to learn of a faster way that’s not so easy to forget again once you’ve learned it!

Well spotted Mick. I am indeed not well. Had Giardia for more than 3 weeks, recovered from that and now have either altitude sickness or a chest infection or both.
