First heard this song (and the whole album) when I was 8. It had helped me when I was going through things a child shouldn’t have to. I kept coming back to this song the most through rough times and it always comforted me. Now as an adult who’s going through a terrible breakup (it’s only been 5 months after it) the lyrics makes more sense than ever. I finally understand it fully.

The moment you fully understand the statement if the burden seems too much to bear Remember the end will justify the pain it took to get us there overwhelming sense of relief.

Lyrics: Let it all out (Get it all out) Rip it out, remove it Don't be alarmed when the wound begins to bleed 'Cause we're so scared to find out (What this life's all about) So scared we're gonna lose it Not knowing all along That's exactly what we need [Pre-Chorus 1] And today I will trust You with a confidence Of a man who's never known defeat But tomorrow, upon hearing what I did I will stare at You in disbelief Oh, inconsistent me Crying out for consistency [Chorus] And You said, "I know that this will hurt But if I don't break your heart then things will just get worse If the burden seems too much to bear Remember the end will justify the pain it took to get us there" [Verse 2] And I'll let it be known (At times I have shown) Signs of all my weakness But somewhere in me There is strength And You promise me (That You believe) In time I will defeat this 'Cause somewhere in me There is strength [Pre-Chorus 2] And today I will trust you with the confidence Of a man who's never known defeat And I'll try my best to just forget That that man isn't me [Chorus] And You said, "I know that this will hurt But if I don't break your heart then things will just get worse If the burden seems too much to bear Remember the end will justify the pain it took to get us there" You said, "I know that this will hurt (I know this will hurt) But if I don't break your heart then things will just get worse (Things will get much worse) When the burden seems too much to bear (Seems too much to bear) Remember the end will justify the pain it took to get us there" [Bridge] Reach out to me Make my heart brand new Every beat will be for You For You And I know You know You touched my life When You touched my heavy heart And made it light

The fact that THIS song follows the song he wrote about when he and Katy Perry were breaking up, is crazy. He’s basically like, God told me we’re going in different directions. She wants to be of this world, and you are Mine. So powerful.

To bury us or the hatchet and this song being back to back absolutely rip my heart out every time. First time was after a huge fall out and break up. This time was after a phone call with my mother where I don't know if I'll ever speak to her again... I'm raw and hurting and these songs just grab me by the throat like "you're valid. It'll be okay. But it's gonna suck in between. And that's okay..."

Ooof. This is my second year of high school and I can remember where I this for the first time. We had a jukebox set up in the cafeteria and I had to go to my locker just before lunch. It started playing and it stopped me in my tracks. I was so captivated by it, that I stopped and listened to it once more.

It is indeed a Matt 😄 but it's Matt Hoopes, their guitarist. Pretty sure this is the only RK song he sings lead on.
@AnimationArrow4 жыл бұрын
@@simplylogan93 Ah thanks! My first thought was that it might have been Dave because I know he did some vocals on some of their other songs but it didn't sound like him either. Matt Hoopes makes a lot more sense then.
