Not really, Bobby. The Founding Fathers had experience with the religious extremists from their homelands, and their experience dictated their view of separation of church and state. The church, has at its core, the demand that religion IS the state (cf, Israel) this was apparent during the immigration of religious extremists to NA from the very beginning. Religion also played a major role in providing "protection" for the slave holders and thus encouraged the Civil War. The country is being torn apart because of the demands of the religious extremists that religion become the dominant civil and LEGAL expression of the land, that was NEVER the intention of the Founding Fathers, but has ALWAYS been the intention of religious organizations.
