She nailed her cute little mannerisms, her Texas accent, her amazing performance style, and really just everything that embodied her. Not to mention the makeup really helped her look like her as well. I disagree that she isn’t a versatile actress. Have you seen Enough, The Wedding Planner, Lila and Eve, and Hustlers? Aside from Selena, these are some of her best roles that showcase her versatility.

Oh, it most definitely is. Selena in general is already a household name and American staple. I noticed that, as somebody who is 35. The film came out when I was 9. Selena passed when I was about 5. I remember it all. Only Latinos knew about her for a while. Then I noticed this shift starting in 2016 where ppl from all kinds of communities were talking about and celebrating her a lot on social media. I think it's a great thing. To crossover and share an important person or factor of your community w others bc they appreciate the figure or cultural element. I think the world needs more of that.

I really wish that JLO could have played the Netflix version of Selena. Obviously she’s much older now than she was when she did the role but according to Selena’s family the Netflix version is more of an accurate depiction of Selena‘s life, than the rushed motion picture. And there’s nothing wrong with the young lady that played her. She just physically didn’t have the look of Selena and they tried to put a lot on her to make her look like her.
