Reliving my first car stereo upgrade in 1996, a PYE CCE540 radio cassette player

That's all kinds of awesomely awesomness! I feel old now though as when you were a student I'd been in work for 9 years (left school in '87) My first stereo upgrade was a Phillips 752 from a Vauxhall into my 1980 Mk2 Escort 1100 popular. Had a few snatch stereos later , they all went under the seats or in the boot , never walked around with them. That there Pye one would look great in my 1990 3dr Corolla.

BS! If you really were the user of that car stereo unit you should remember auto reverse function to change the side of the cassette to listen to, instead you physically remove cassette and put it back in to change the side to play.

It's a stereo I've not used in 26 years and have many, many stereos since then, so I didn't remember how that worked straight out of the box 😕 sorry.

​@heathsworkshop100 I had a JVC pull out that looked very similar and I think auto reverse was ff/rew at the same time. I always took it out of the car every time I parked it up but one day being lazy I put it under the seat and when I came back my window was smashed and the stereo was gone, I bought a Kenwood face off after that, so I had no excuse not to take it with me. And Erasure - Wild was one of the cassettes I had in my car...
