I had not really listened to the Allman Brothers Band in the last 40 years or so and I was very pleasantly surprised by this video I just discovered this morning. This version stands very well on its own merits!

This not The Allman Brothers Band. Only one Allman Brothers band ever existed and unfortunately it died along with Duane on October 29, 1971. A group of musicians calling themselves The Allman Brothers Band performing with only 50 percent of the original, Hall of Fame inducted, members is arguably nothing more than a tribute band. This group of musicians reminds us of The Allman Brothers, however it is not The Allman Brothers.

October 29 1971 because fuck Dickey, Gregg, Butch, Berry, and Jaimoe I guess. Seriously man, get your head out of your ass. I love Duane as much as the next guy and he was an amazing guitar player, to the point it is awkward to hear some of them without him, but c'mon give the other ~90% of the band credit for at least Brothers and Sisters. They played great shows and made great albums after Duane's passing. It just went from Duane led to Dickey led, nothing wrong with that, just different

Listen...... Duane was obviously the heart of the band early on. But after Duane's death the band stumbled forward. Imagine any of us trying to deal with the intense pain of two members dying early on in the band's life. I don't really give a Shite about the personnel changes in the band - These guys are awesome musicians and they carried the torch and played music in a way that far exceeded many of their brethren. I'll take every song and moment from these guys. My final comment is that I truly believe that Duane and Berry are channeling through these guys. Long live the ABB - in Heaven now....

Jewfro...So my head is up my ass because I expressed a fact. You say ".. it is awkward to hear some of them without him..." Certainly your "them" is the Allman Brothers Band, which this video does not present. My comment regards THIS VIDEO which is not the Allman Brothers. It was OVER after Duane died. Not denying credit to anyone, plenty of good music after the original band ceased to exist but facts are facts. And the fact is that this is NOT THE ALLMAN BROTHERS. Also, why isn't Dickey in this video? In my opinion it is because Gregg said "fuck Dickey"

Johnny Ozelius......In my opinion if you don't give a "shite" about the personnel changes in the band then you don't give a shit about the original band. This is nothing more than a TRIBUTE BAND. Dickey is alive at the time that this was recorded yet I don't see him playing in it. I guess you wouldn't give a "shite" if Gregg was not in this video since you don't really give a Shite about personnel changes. So, by your reasoning, if Gregg was not playing (you know, a mere personnel change) they could still be called the Allman Brothers. PS The ABB are not "in heaven now" Dickey and Jaimoe are still on earth.

October 29 1971 The transition from Duane led to Dickey led post-Brothers and Sisters took some getting used to, as Duanes influence left around that time and Dickeys more melodic, jazz guitar style went to the forefront than a hard rock blues sound of Duane . But its still the Allmans, that southern rock sound didn't die. If anything, it grew under Dickeys leadership. To say that the influence and appeal of the band died with Duane is ignorant to their accomplishments as a band.
