You said you have never used w296 but according to Hodgdon and St. Marks powder W296 and H110 have always been the same powder

I got news for you. If you use an H1 ten, you're also using the powder you've never used. Which is Winchester 296 they are the exact same powder.

Optical screen Chronographs are not accurate for shot loads and will show velocities that are about 30 FPS off of actual. Also, the distance from the screen center to the muzzle can make a bigger difference than you might think. Hodgdon H-110 is exactly the same powder as WW-296 according to Hodgdon who sells both. The Lil Gun and the Alliant 410 are both extremely bad for hull life and will cut it in half when compared to 296/H-110. The Alliant 300 MP is the new best powder for the 410. Velocity above 1300 seems to give the best performance with the 410, do not limit yourself.

I will keep an eye on your channel I reload 410 too and new loads that you try will save me time on mine. Only powder I've been using so far was h110.

Try the "Stretch" wads from Ballistic Products. They pattern good for me.

@@northstarw0w they are the same loads. Funny how they're called pistol magnum, I find them way to hot for revolvers and only use those powders in my 357/44 magnum lever guns. Lil'gun especially is too hot in a revolver.

I only been loading for my 410 about 6 months. Only powder I have used is Winchester 296. I was down to 1 can 296 1 can 300MP. The only powder I could find locally was 1 can of 300MP and 4 pds keg of 410. So I bought them. But I only load 3 inch hulls for hunting.

I just got into reloading .410, and am loving it for sporting clays. I’m loading the old Win AA 2.5” hulls with 1/2oz. shot and Win 209 primers. I’ve only found H110 and have loaded 14.4gr. ( for 1250fps and 15.2gr. for 1300fps (loading on a MEC 600Jr. MkV and that’s what my #11/#12 bushings are dropping). Both pattern and break clays well, but I’m finding H110 to be very sooty/dirty. Is that typical, in your experience?

How do you know your electronic scale is accurate? Did you ever test it using a quality balance scale? I have reloaded pistol, rifle, and 12ga for 35 years. I was recently given a mec press for a 410 and a garbage bag full of once fired paper Winchester hulls in great shape. Any advise on reloading the paper hulls?

Have you ever tried to reload Longshot in a 410? The burning rate is basically the same as the Alliant 410 powder.

3 x 000 buckshot are 0.485 ounce that flies as ½ ounce. If you have 70 grain 000 buckshot.

4 x 000 buckshot are 0.64 ounce. 11/16 ounce is 0.6875 ounce. 5 exceed ¾ ounce I don't do 5.

I've had good results with Blackhorn 209 it was all I could get so I used 25g loads with 38cal wad cutters for slugs or 36cal round balls.
