The only reloading I ever did was 9mm, .38sp and .357mag. All very basic rounds. I did everything on a Lee single stage press. I grew to enjoy loading almost as much as shooting the rounds I loaded. I spent many hours having quiet time. One big difference I found was I could load rounds that worked better in my guns than any factory ammo. I could tailor the rounds for maximum performance. I had to give it up when I moved into senior housing (I'm 70 years old.) I do miss it and I recommend loading as a great rewarding hobby. Cool video Eric.

Eric, Although I am not a reloader I found this video very educational. I gave my son a 1875 Martini Henry rifle as a gift. BTW, We love the movie ZULU. I bought the rifle from Atlantic Cutlery and it was specially selected from the Nepal find. The rifle was cleaned and fired by a professional gunsmith. We had ammo from Ten X but it was all lost in a house fire in 2021, Now searching for ammo to replace what we lost. Fortunately, the rifle and bayonet are now in a gun safe.

Thank you for your tips on forming the .577/.450 brass, it is very similar to my making 45-75 brass from .348 Winchester, I'm sure the annealing process is quite similar, as well as the the case forming. Great video!

Thank you for revisiting this topic. I was dismayed when you last video about this cartridge suddenly vanished. I like to anneal my brass again after the final sizing. I like the white cloud polyester fill produces. Much safer than glowing embers of cotton puffs too. Noting with interest your going for waxed lube bullets vs paper patched rounds. I find paper patched bullets leave a barrel that is easier to get clean, but then again paper patching each bullet is a lot more work. I did a video a few years ago about converting Kynoch brass to use 209 shotgun powders, but I agree brass with primer pockets already set up for standard primers is a lot easier, and old Kynoch cases sometimes split on their first firing anyway (also with extensive hang fires from the old primers and decomposed cordite) as well as getting harder to find economically

I appreciate the video, brother. I picked up an Enfield Snider .577 and a Royal Kabul Armory Martini while in Afghanistan. I just recently bought dies for both and got my Magtech shells in the other day. My wife has never shot the Enfield I bought her. I did find some 1930's Kynoch 577/450 years ago. I never thought these two rifles would be anything more than a wall decoration in our living room. 😊

Very well done video on the loading for the Martini Henry. I have two of them and have actually shot some of the original Kynoch loads for it, not recommended. I like the bullet you cast for it because I am paper patching my bullets for it which is a whole nother thing. I have used black powder and smokeless loads for it based on load data I have found. The smokeless works really well because black powder is just now becoming available again. I load for this and the .577 Snider which is also awesome. I have also tried to form brass for the Martini but kept creasing the brass and I like your process which the key is annealing I think. This is one of the more difficult rounds to reload for and you obviously have a very good process for it. The video was very helpful.

Good video I enjoyed it, I've been loading BP cartridges for quite a few years now but never the martini Henry. 45-70, 45-120, 45 colt, 32-40, 38-55, ect... One of nice things about black powder cartridges is that if you take proper care of your cases they will last hundreds of rounds, unlike modern smokeless high pressure cartridges.

I bought a Gahendra rifle because of you. I tried cleaning it up and make it look like the Zulu skin from Battlefield 1. Sadly I lost the guts and the wood when I moved out of my apartment and was never able to finish it. And now there aren't any more Gahendra rifles on IMA sadly. The stylized lever was my favorite part of that rifle. When I have more money I'm gonna get a proper long lever martini and hopefully get one that can shoot and then use this vid to start shooting.

Great video, loved watching you form the cases. When I first got the itch to shoot my M-H's in 1982, only brass I could find at the time was I think from Australia and $100 for a box of 20. Lyman dies. I think my mold came from England and was sized to make a proper paper patched bullet. I've never seen a British military or even British commercial load that had a bare lead bullet without patching on the 577-450. Tried once with lead sized to the bore and accuracy was much worse, that rifling really does like a patched bullet. Be interested to see how your shooting goes. We used to take a press that would clamp to the table at the range, powder and pre-lubed and patched bullets in an old cigar box. Great job.
