Reloading lee 7/8 slugs with gun club hulls

#1 up is powder filling the measure. #2 down is powder filling the hull position. You lift up and the powder starts to fill the measure, then before it's done, you flick it down, that is why you get the weight variation as it sits in the powder filling the hull position. Try and have the powder measure sit still in the powder filling position between strokes and you will get consistent measures.

I've had excellent success with the CB-4100-12B wads for 7/8 oz Lee slugs in the Remington Gun Club Hulls. I'm not sure why they aren't recommended in any manual since they fit perfectly and shoot extremely well out of my smoothbore Mossberg 500 with a rifled choke tube. I've gotten a 2.25" 3-shot group at 50 yards with them. No bulging or pressure signs either at 1350 FPS.

The problem is that hull is so thick . I use those hulls for buckshot and BB loads . I use the cheap winchester trap hulls sold in the value packs at Wally world for slugs . They don't bulge with the slugs .

Not sure if you have done this by now . Try putting a card or two under your slug this should help with the bulge . I think if you shake the shell you will hear a rattle because your not filling the entire hull .

Windjammer is supposed to be thinner and work with the Gun Club and what I'm going to try as soon as they show up to the PO Box.

Have you tried .177 bbs or ss slingshot ammo ? Super cheap at walmart (.177) and the slingshot ammo is cheap on eBay .

The Lee 7/8oz slugs are very accurate. They fit nicely in once fired Federal or Estate hulls. Tapered wall hulls are a bit too snug of a fit. Fed 12S0 wads or Winchester gray or pink wads work fine with a fold crimp. Claybuster versions WILL NOT work.

I have been casting 000 for three days now. I think I got about 4-6 pounds. Yeah not much but I got a single cavity ball mold for my rifle. .350 witch would be like 00 7/8 size LOL.

The bulkier powders don't meter well by volume. I weigh out all of my Red Dot, Unique, Herco, Blue Dot, et cetera powder charges. The less bulky powders -- like Hodgdon H110 -- meter very well by volume.

That digital scale has a +/- .2 tenths of a grain accuracy. I have one similar that I use just for quick reference. But actually use my beam scale for exact measurements. You should be good at the lower charge range, but I wouldn’t use that scale for maximum charges.

The slug goes through the barrel different start low and work up look for pressure

Thank you again. Why I was asking is because in my local powder is hard to find so I am limited to just a handful. So I use a "all around powder" and that is Green Dot it works good with my buck shoot loads.

A little update I came up with a great load slug and 00 7/8 buck. I can bust a 2 liter soda bottle at 92 yards all day long with my slugs At 50 and in one big hole.
