I have been using the Lyman decapping die prior to cleaning and resizing for years now.

Area 419 or Mighty armory flicker decapping dies work very well.

I run my brass through the wet tumbler for 30 minutes, sort, size/decap, then wet tumble for another 30-60 minutes. Bright as the morning sun. :)

I use the Lee collet neck size die to knock out primers before wet tumbling.

I like and use the Lyman Universal Spring Loaded Decapping Die.

I just decapped a batch of 357 and wet tumbled with pins. Boy are they shiny with perfectly clean primer pockets

Be aware that some Military Brass has an EXTREMELY HEAVY CRIMP. I have the LEE Decaping Die and have had to replace the Pin Twice due to Heavy Crimps so it's a good idea to keep a spare Pin on Hand . The first one I had the pin Broke Off and Punched right through the Primer , The second one Bent . You didn't mention Removing the Crimp before trying to Reload Military Brass the First Time to prevent Primer Detonation when seating in Military Brass. Very Noisy and annoying .

My favorite way to decap is the Harvey Deprimer.

Does the recapping die work for all sizes of cases from small to large?
@keithmalmberg83952 ай бұрын
Question. Do you need a different size one for the different types of primers? HG- L and S, rifle-L and S. Want to get into reloading and need to know just how much it's going to cost to do 9mm, 223/556 and 308.

i would like to see how to use a mandrel die for rifle cases..

Aren't you concerned that running the die down until it touches the shell holder is creating unnecessary stress on both parts?

Like those collars. Prefer the Sinclair decap die.

Lee's universal decapping die only works on smaller cartridges with large flash holes. So it won't work for 338 Lapua or 6.5 Lapua. ...guess which two calibers I bought it to reload.
@ryanashby36402 ай бұрын
"fits cases up to .560" in diameter and up to 3.125" long." yeah, 338 would have too large of diameter. 6.5 lapue should fit, might just need an undersized flash hole pin. lee part number is 91893

Get a Harvey Deprimer. They come with the smaller Lapua pin. Works great.

Some brands of brass has small flash holes . When i was reloading 357 sig would brake a pin once and a while found that speers brass had small flash hole .

@@ryanashby3640 I bought a Redding universal die and it does it all.

I don't know why anyone would clean their brass with the old primers still in. The primer pockets are the dirtiest part of the case.
@brianwood78822 ай бұрын
Except I wouldn’t exactly call the Lee universal. Won’t deprive 17 caliber.
