Just getting into this as a bedroom DJ, but have a little cash to spend on it. This is by far the most informative video I've seen, and I appreciate the straight-forwardness and lack of fancy "click the subscribe button" attitude. This bloke is the real deal, and I don't care that he's not using fancy KZbin production lighting and microphones. Thanks man.

funny you posted this video. I had a pair of Audio Technica LP120x show up in the post today (minor upgrade to original lp120). Yes they are budget, they're not going to be as powerful in torque (but almost), they're not going to last as long and they're made of slightly cheaper material compared to technics, RP7000, etc. But they were £245 each and these are my first turntables. I'm not a scratch DJ, so low torque is just fine, it'll allow me to have a light touch. I only play in my house, so I don't have to worry about them being safe to transport. So many people say "spend a bit more, get second-hand technics", but you've gotta start somewhere. Many of the best DJs in the world started on shitty belt drives and faulty equipment. The 120x has everything I could possibly need to have some fun with, and I'm really looking forward to giving my small vinyl collection a spin

Couldn't agree more. I co-owned a pair of 1200's a few years ago and my mate moved to Australia and bought my share of them. I recently got the itch to mix again, and bought some LP120's. For the price, they are more than adequate and capable. I've had them for just over two years and they are still going strong.

For me the most DJ friendly, well thought out, and ahead of it's time deck produced since Technics was the Vestax PDX-D3.. Powerful motor, variable pitch fader settings, digital pitch display, variable pitch bend and jog toggle control, reverse, and the first to use the removeable target light. The massive downside though was the chipwood cabinet.

How are you liking the Reloops? I’ve heard good things about them. Although some don’t like the digital pitch control, I’ve heard it’s not really a problem when you get used to it.
@rubukh
@rubukh 4 ай бұрын
@@lustforlow-end6022 Reloops work great. Digital pitch is one of the things I like the most because I prefer +-16 rather than +-8 (+-50 can also be implemented in an interesting way). The adjustable time to stop from 0 to 6 seconds is something I use a lot. The only drawback is their smell. I've had them for a few months now and when I leave them closed in the room and go in there, the smell is very noticeable. It's the smell of the lower part of the casing made of plastic, which is not associated with something premium. Considering their price, I can ignore it because it is not a problem to ventilate the room. It's not like you can smell them while playing, the smell must condense when the room is closed for a long time. I use them with Ortofon Concord Mk II mix, connected to Behringer DJX900. The whole setup cost me as much as one limited edition SL1200.

@@lustforlow-end6022 I have been using them for several months now and I think that the advantage of digital pich is the ability to choose between +-8, +-16, +-50 (I use +-16). Additionally, you can adjust the stop time from 0 to 6 seconds, which also gives you a lot of possibilities. Revers is also something that can be used in interesting ways. The only drawback is their smell. When I leave them closed in the room and come back, the smell of cheap plastic can be clearly felt (the lower part of the housing is made of it). It's not like you can smell it when you play them, the smell has to build up. I can forgive them because I air the room before playing anyway. I installed Ortofon Concord MkII Mix on them and connected them to Behringer DJX900. The whole set cost me as much as one limited edition SL1200. I think the Reloop RP7000 is a piece of good equipment. Thanks to them, I returned to DJing after over 20 years.

I think most of us back in the day started out with some dodgy decks, i had an SL-23, which was not too bad for a belty, paired with some dodgy pioneer which didnt even have a pitch control, then a set of KAM BDXs i picked up cheap, which were not much better. Then life took a different route, djing went out the window and i never did get to own a pair of the technics, had plenty of plays on them tho. I recently got back into it all, glad i kept my vinyl, one thing i never parted with. I was looking at getting the reloop 7000s, but then i came across the audio technica lp1240, pretty much the same, just another super oem. But for £200 each, brand new boxed, it was a no-brainer really, so i went with a pair of them. Basically got a pair of them for less than the price of a single reloop7000. Happy with what i got, no regrets.

I find this very useful. Thx, tempted to get a reloop rp-7000 mk2 but that pitch problem seems to be an issue given the fact that i just wanna use it for mixing in techno and house. I often change bpm, can play trance tracks in slowed down versions as well, so a 1200 sounds more appropriate for the purpose

I think when people mention the pitch on these newer turntables is that it’s digital, which means that when you move it, it jumps in steps, compared to Technics (mk2, mk3d & mk5) being analogue & moving smoothly.

the Technics classic decks .Many are getting on but i have never seen one break .I have broken many other turntables but on the Technics only a plastic catch for the tone arm and only because im a clumsy oaf.The feet would fall off but thats because they unwind over time especially if you dont make sure they are properly wound on which is what i kept doing.Other then that with proper use they will last a very very long time.

It would be easy to say if it's good or bad if we actually knew the resolution... But I'm going to say this: CDJs also have digital pitch control (of course with finite resolution). If that's good enough for the best of djs out there, then it's good for us too.

I have a pair of the original rp8000's. I mix vinyl and love the lcd display of the pitch for fine beat matching. With technics and rp7000 you kind of guess how much you moved the slider. When beatmatching by ear you can quickly move the fader in tiny increments and know you didnt nudge it too much. This helps when your trying to blend records fast. I can keep 2 records matched for over a minute with the rp8000 before manipulating the platters...not all the time though...same goes for MK5.

The torque is low on the 1200's compared to any of the newer turntables available now . If you have not worked on a high torque turntable i would suggest doing so., it does do a great job even on mixing. i love mixing on those, great for those fast blends.

It depends if your mixing records or not , if your performance DJ yes you might need high torque motors , but too much high torque pressure on any turntable motor will not be great mixing records , Technics has balance of everything really that's why it's industry standard

FSwift DJ mixing has to do with more with the pitch than the torque. Which is why the pitch drive is the most important thing. High torque makes you faster getting the music to the right bpm . But if you worked on the 1200 all your life and then Blend music with a plx1000 you can do it effectively
@FSwiftDJ
@FSwiftDJ 5 жыл бұрын
@@hot4futureyears2come you can mix records with digital pitch even on plx1000 etc but as all club vinyl djs will say, original Analog pitch is just better with the finer pitch adjustments , they all have same pitch in Technics just that new models use a binary system that counts in block whole steps then in half etc with Analog pitch , that's why digital pitch turntable won't stay in without pitch movement every few seconds or so compared to Analog pitch , you can move the plater etc with Analog pitch to keep it in time also , with digital pitch like plx1000 it just goes all over the place with original Technics your not constantly chasing the tempo Your on point , with digital modern turntable your chasing the tempo too much that hinders your fader or mixer creative flow if I can put that more clear lol

@@Übereine BS. It's proven fact that the PLX1000 is only suitable for timecodes or fast/short vinyl transitions, due to it's digital pitch. Yes digital pitch is good for stability of the platter speed, but the steps in the pitch adjustment are obvious to a good vinyl DJ. None of the Hanpin / super oem decks have the tiny pitch adjustment capability of the Technics Mk2/M3d/Mk5 analogue pitch sliders. That is fact, and they do not hold two vinyl records perfectly beatmatched anywhere near as long as original Technics do. All other turntables apart from Technics use the same Hanpin motor, so they are basically the same. Some just have a few extra features, that is all. The Technics M5g and all models after that, also have digital pitch adjustment, and are not as good as original Technics system.

@@noobslayerr9732 So, PLX1000 are 'much superior' than original Technics are they ? How about you discuss 'how' they are better, instead of just posting a bullshit bro' science view without any detail or factual proof to back it up. I started DJ-ing in 1980, and still DJ now. I think I'm qualified to call myself a 'vinylist' whatever that is. PLX1000 have more torque (just the same as every other Hanpin motor deck, because they all have the same motor, are you following), but more torque is only good for DJ's who want the platter to keep spinning as they put pressure on it ie scratch/HipHop/Turntablism DJ's, as I already said. It is not a benefit for a vinyl DJ who does long transitions, like house, techno, trance, etc, because the digital pitch moves in larger steps than the analogue pitch slider in a Technics Mk2, M3d, or Mk5. That is a fact. I have used every turntable released, and I mean EVERY different one. The PLX1000 is exactly the same to mix on as the Stanton's, Reloop's, Audio Technica, Denon, Sony, Numark, and a load more. They use the same motor. The differences are in the extra features, and tonearm quality. Every Hanpin motored deck, has the same digital pitch, which is not even half as accurate as the original Technics analogue fader (which still controls a binary / digital circuit, but the adjustment is a lot finer). Sit a well looked after set of 1200Mk2 next to a set of PLX1000, and see how long the Pioneers keep the beats matched without you having to constantly chase the pitch fader to keep them in time. You might never find the exact sweet spot, because it could be in a gap between adjustment steps. On a Mk2, you CAN get it bang on, and they WILL stay locked together for 2 or 3 minutes with practise. If you cannot understand why this is a correct opinion, based on fact, then you are too stupid to even discuss this subject.

Yes, I was about to comment the same thing. The Reloop's are just as good as any other Hanpin motor turntable, so you may as well buy the Reloop's rather than spending stupid money on Pioneer PLX1000's as they are all the same under the lid. And, if you are more into scratching, with simple beatmatching ie dropping tunes in over 2 to 4 bars, using timecodes, then any Hanpin deck will probably be fine. But, for long transitions on real vinyl, you really need a Technics Mk2, M3d, or Mk5, because only those have analogue pitch sliders (which still control a digital circuit - but the adjustment is a lot finer). Digital pitch sliders such as the later Technics (M5g onwards) and Hanpin / super oem decks, have large steps in the pitch adjustment which causes real problems for long mixes with real vinyl. Also, higher torque motors, are not a good thing for delicate mixing, because the platters 'fight against' your finger drags and then slow down too much. On The original Technics, you can literally drag a nail on the platter and slow it by a tiny amount, thus a finer adjustment is possible.

Technics still is the champ n still look beautiful in that color if you got it in good shape n last for years n you know that turntablist have beat the sht out of the1200mk 2 when they do scratch n battle style n you know that I got mine since 1989 rock the sht out of them man they still work like a champ just have to maintenance them one a year n you be good I think is one of the best turntable ever made n we use them to scratch n battle style when hip hop rap came out in the 70s that was underground for what I remember we use the technics 1100 mk 2 those first n those are heavy too made like the wheel of steel I still got a pair n working like a champ but when the 1200 came out we use them cus of the pitch control was better for mixing music anyway that reloop look nice n cheaper than the new technics that cost to much n they made them cheap not the same as the 1200 mk 2 legend that why I rather buy a reloop 7000 cus they build like the old technics out of the wheel of steel I'm going to buy one to check them out now n day they made turntable out of plastic oh wood in the 70s thing was build well n better on japan not china that is garbage stuff😁😂 2021 bronx new york like your video man you the best thank you

I would say battle mode for mixing to its easier to get an accurate reading on the pitch slider because your seeing it side on, I find turntables very clumsy to use club style
