Kinda eminds me of an article "Why Monet Never Used Black, & Why You Shouldn't Either" Basically, why use just the darker shade of a color when you can use color theory (the illusion that simple hue contrasts could bring) to do the job, and even better.

Watching you fix the animation at the end reminded me of some of the nintendo transformations in games where the character would cycle between frames for a moment before transitioning to the next frame then cycling between that one to lengthen the animation time of the transformation and make it look more intense, I wonder if that trick would look good in this animation too.

When you said your first pixel art was in 2015 I said to myself, "Damn... I'm old." Being very truthful, I believe this additional exaggerated frame in the transformation process actually threw away some of the smoothness of the animation, the version without it was a lot smoother to look at (in my opinion); still, amazing artwork done there, mainly from someone doing this for the first time. Keep practicing! Study other people's works, how they do their own things and study some anatomy and drawing fundamentals because that too helps a lot, even if it isn't 100% necessary for pixel art. That being said, I am artist (of the kind that draws) so actual pixel artists will have better advice. But sticking to it is very, very important.

Hi! I found your videos just yesterday and am binging them all rn. Thank you for all these very insightful tips and really well made fun videos. :) If you don't mind I have a question: In moments like 04:15 it looks like you use the color picker to choose a color and then have a selection of all pixels coloured in this exact one, being able to shift the hues afterwards. All that without even selecting the different parts that arent clusters individually with the magic wand. Is that true? How do you do this? Maybe I am completety misunderstanding what I see tho so i'd be grateful for a reply! :D Thank you!
