Remarkable Scenic Cruise in Japan (it’s actually the Sunflower Ferry)

I took the new Sunflower Ferry from Beppu to Osaka Japan. Unlike usual, this time the Sunflower operated during the daytime. You will enjoy the beautiful Seto Inland Sea in this video.

As a British women living in northern England I sometimes feel like I’m losing my mind. Part of my work is making things, I have a set of rubber stamps that are sunflowers! Yeah, every time I use or see them it’s in my head. Last summer a stray sunflower seed grew in the path, every time I looked out into the garden “Sunflower” 😂

I love the idea of the daytime cruise; as you said, you can see places you can't see at night. This is going into the "Japan Trip" saved list and the fact that you can remain on board until 8:00 am is a real bonus. I must memorize the Sunflower Song before I get there in 2026.

Oh my, it was indeed a beautiful day to travel. The mountains of Beppu were so lush and green. The trip through the water was so scenic with the haze over the many small islands and ships. Always such a joy to see the employees waving ...I even said "Byeeee" lol. I hummed along when they played "our song" (with all of the STJ family viewers). I don't think I have ever seen a bridge that has both cars and a train track...that was fun! As you went under the bridge the color change in the sky as a backdrop was like a silk painting. I really enjoy squash and pumpkin so I get excited when I see it in many of your dinners. I can just taste it (!!!). At first, I thought your sour pork had a pig snout in it but I think that it turned out to be lotus? Thank you for taking us on your trip. It is always a great adventure. Bon voyage my friend.

A well appointed ship with plenty of space to roam around. Nice food and great scenery to look at on the journey. Those smalll white sand beaches on the islands looked inviting. I'm not a fan of small spaces but your cabin was cosy. Thanks for the shared voyage. Bushyboy Oz.

Another excellent trip - thank you as always! I took Murasaki from Osaka to Beppu about 10 days before you recorded this, she is a beautiful ship, they even had a Dixieland Jazz trio as the evening entertainment. Superior single room was very nice indeed. I never knew they were doing daytrips! I have travelled Kansai to/from Kyushu multiple times, and always at night - a daytime cruise to see the sights just makes so much sense, Seto Naikai is just stunningly beautiful. Fingers crossed I can get on the September one 👍 Also: "This sound is not my fart" has me laughing out loud - those seats were really nice! 😁

There is something really distinctive about the sunflower song. It makes the company. I also love the way their employees always wave goodbye. I think Sunflower is the only ferry line in Japan allowing foreign passengers to book on line on the spot. Others insist on foreign passengers making booking requests on line and wait for the ferry company to get back.

A great tip if you wanted to visit the bridge is to rent a bike, you can stop at the several islands the bridge crosses like Yo island.

I've done this voyage from Beppu to Osaka and it's absolutely brilliant. This is a trip not to be missed. The Shin Nihonkai ferry trip from Tsuruga to Tomakomai is an even better one as you spend almost 2 full days on board so it's not be missed.

It's easy to understand the legends around the islands of the Seto Inland Sea watching this video,they are like jewels scattered across the water,thank you Izanagi and Izanami! The ferry (and food !!) looked well appointed and tasteful,I particularly liked the wall decoration in your cabin. Grand Seto bridge was hugely impressive,the trucks and train looked like toys against the massive structure! This has been one of your best and most enjoyable videos,thank you.
