I feel like if they did remaster it to make it feel more like rdr2, it might potentially end up being a downgrade. A lot of what makes rdr1 its own game, it's the art style, the era it was made in etc. A remaster that looks exactly like rdr2 might feel like an expanded epilogue of rdr2 and wont feel as impactful

I found the Mafia and Persona remake comparison odd, as if to imply every successful games is expected to be remade. It also dismisses the fact those were originally standard definition games, made on discontinued engines. Whereas RDR1 was made in 2010 with consoles that had HD/wide screen support, and uses the same engine R* utilize to this day, albeit an older build of it. Theres still plenty of modern graphics techniques here that it really doesnt need a remaster, as its only really triumphed by its own sequel which ofc looks dizzyingly good. Will gamers be this whiny about RDR2 in 10 - 15 years for not looking "up to date" anymore?

I agree with you. I honestly don't want RDR to be like RDR2. Let me make it clear - I LOVED RDR2, best game I played to date. I ended up playing RDR2 first, and then RDR1. Both games are great, it's just that they are.. different in a lot of ways. RDR1 is more of a traditional spaghetti western, and it shows everywhere - from sound design, to story telling, to even the ambient music. It's more of a "you're a bad ass cowboy in the wild west". It's more fast pace, more action orientated. RDR2 is more of a slower, cinematic experience with an emphasis on drama and emotional storytelling. You can't compare these games to be fair. And I don't want RDR2 to be RDR1 or vice versa.

I, for one, like that we got a tiny (by today's standards) game which runs very well on cheap PCs. Sure, the graphics may look dated, but that's not a problem these days with all the retro-looking games coming out (and requiring a very expensive PC just to run properly). I just want to see a mod that brings the UI, Graphics and map of RDR2 into 1. That being said obviously you can’t have the map of Rdr 2 in one with how the map was created back in 2010 and ported over. But, north of blackwater you still can explore and the ground has collision to build strawberry, Riggs station, Lone Mule stead, etc.

@ I also would love to see if not already done, a terrain manipulator mod to edit the map of RDR2. Major parts of Big Valley (RDR1) was done from the ground up (apart from the canyon in the mission saving Sean.) the large ridge that outlines a half circle isn’t there. As well as the outline of the bay opposite of Great Plains and Tall Trees. What I’m saying is I want to see someone master the landscape or somehow copy and paste the land outside the map of 1 and make it in 2.

Sorry but this just looks worse than the original (the original still looks good, it looks pretty fantastic with the higher resolution and draw distance on PC), all i saw here was harsher shadows, lighting which just seems worse than the original game, the blur happening behind characters in cutscenes is ugly and for that alone i would never use this mod. It is funny that Rockstar worked, sweated for 8 years to make Red Dead Redemption 2 look the way it did, literally surpassing anyones expectations of how good their next game would look. But of course, now that Red Dead 2 is here, available to all of us to play and enjoy, we will instead whine and complain about how we need that for the first game. You lot should be grateful to Double Eleven that the game is on PC in the first place, no modders ever managed to port it, Double Eleven did it and it is the most stable and best running version of that game that is available, no bugs, just smooth as butter, high resolution awesomeness.

I made it pretty clear later in the video that I think original base red dead 1 looks great, it has amazing stylistic choice that let's it age well because of its art direction. The good thing about the RDR reimagined mod is every single effect is optional so you can deselect the shader and whatever you don't like, select some minor improvements and you'll still get a good frame rate and close to original look. The Reality Redemption mod is the best.

hot take : Red Dead II shouldn't have had New Austin in it, just the Tall Trees/Great Plains part of West Elizabeth. Playing chronologically, it's just weird knowing John traversed through Armadillo and MacFarlane's Ranch. I have a laptop with i7-8550U and 8GB RAM and I'm using RDRReimagined. It literally put me on 6 FPS. But after some tweaks, I'm playing with 18~25 FPS. After that I used E3FXReality Reshade and it look awesome. Same graphics overhaul with the HALF COST ON PERFORMANCE. Now I'm able to play around with 25~30 FPS. I really recommend that Reshade. To me, if they’re going to re-anything, it would need to be a remake. The most basic reason is that RDR2 added so much to make the world feel even more alive and I personally preferred the terrain and spaghetti westerns aesthetic of RDR1 so I would love to see that in a more capable engine. It would be a huge project in itself but what would be really cool is if Rockstar remade and combined both Redemption’s to the same game since they cover largely the same area and have connecting timelines.

That achievement is actually very easy surprisingly enough For the mission Lights Camera Action you need to enter a high stakes Liars Dice game in thieves landing. If you win, you get $400. After the mission, don't leave the table and instead keep gambling Once you leave the area the price will go back to normal, but I net myself 10 grand just by doing that and not leaving after the objective was complete

Rockstar Games are too busy nowadays to do remasters/remakes. Back in the early days it was the different studios of Rockstar that made each of the games. Rockstar North done the main console GTAs, Rockstar San Diego done Red Dead Redemption etc. Nowadays all the studios are working all together at one game at a time. Gaming development has also changed in the last 20 years. Some people probably still probably live in the 2000s development cycle where there was a GTA game/Rockstar game every year or 2.

Just go into the Display tab in settings and turn saturation, contrast and brightness up to the max. Or tune it according to your preferences. For my anti glare screen and my 4k tv, putting them on max works the best, the overtly bright environment also adds to the brutal desert landscape. Looks good.

I was wondering why they bothered to add DLSS and FSR because the game already runs so well, but with all the mods it's gonna turn out to be a great idea. Also if you have an Nvidia card, try to enable DSR in the global settings of the Nvidia control panel. You can really crank up the resolution. AMD has the same kind of setting in their control panel, but idk what it's called.

tbh, I don't like the reimagined mod. sure, the mod is extremely customizable but whenever I boot up the game, the ugly menu bar also appears on top of the screen. also, the choices are insane and completely crazy. I think I just simply feel overwhelmed and I don't like the mod.

As a person who never got to experience the og rdr 1, i am actually glad that they didn't remaster it just for the sake of what should i say? eye candy experience? i really wanted to experience the game as how it was and is instead of remake or remaster of it. Now i can finally play it for the 1st time and having a blast with it. It brings me back to good old days games even though i never experienced this one before which shows how still it captures the charm of that era. Sure 50$ is a rip off but holyshit man we are in era of where pirating is just the way now, no need to sign into garbage ass launcher or anything just hit and run the pirate game if experiencing the game for the 1st time, and wait for the OBVIOUS discount that will come in future to get it officially in the steam just to maybe add it into your library folder. Really glad to experience the actual og version for the 1st time instead of some kind of remaster or something. Those work when you already have the original game on pc then remaster makes sense but when having it for the 1st time on pc? no, it should be the og one and then after that remaster will be a good thing, but not for the 1st time port of PC.

@@gghhoosstt1233 $50 really shouldnt be a dent in your pocket for a game as complex, polished and filled with meaningful moments as RDR1. Even compared to full price games on the modern shelf you're still getting roughly 10 normal games worth of cool, hand crafted stuff here, most of it optional and none of it copy/paste slop. Cant say that for the latest Horizon, Assassins creed, Far Cry, Dragon Age, Cyberpunk or Star Wars Outlaws etc. or even objectively great recent games like Elden Ring or Zelda. its still more impressive than those to me. Hasn't aged much systemically or mechanically, only triumphed by its own sequel (which comparatively is like a $70/$80 game against most releases lets be real) Rockstar similar to major Nintendo releases often spoil us, with games ahead of their time and always filled with enough quality content to be worth full price imo. Even GTA V not my fav R* game is still worth if you've never played before, and still kicks most open world games now to the curb. And the Online obviously its own beast. Why should price go down if its really still one of the best on the market?

Honestly the graphics to me didn't need all that much of a boost but. The AUDIO?? Bruh. Whenever a character speaks(especially John) theres that high pitch crackle and fizz that makes it so hard to listen too regardless of version(switch or pc) and there's legit post effects filters that solve that shit and are they present? I've been playing Red Dead Redemption for ~7 years and I've beaten it more times than I can count, I have a rig that can handle the changes and it's honestly about giving it a breath of fresh air. You're right the original game does look good, but changing things up every once in a while makes the experience worth it especially if you can afford to make the changes, plus it's all free!
