I remember playing this as a kid and then re-enacting the battles with my legos. Good times. And you're right, as an adult I much prefer this style of game/interface to War Thunder or World of Warships.

There are so many games from a decade and more ago that just captured the magic, and despite all the advances to date just can't be matched. Battlestations Pacific is probably my most played game ever, and recently my xbox360 quit on me and it's depressing.

A now defunct team made a mod for the sequel,Battlestations Pacific that adds missions from BSM on top of BSP's base game content and a bunch more new stuff on top of that. The mod got taken down due to concerns over copyright and ripped models but there are a few downloads sources here and there. Another team is working on making a 2.0 update to it that was on hold for a bit but last i heard,the devs are continuing progress on it again. Definitely try it out if you want a'more polished'way to get into both games at once as a whole without having to get the older BSM working on newer hardware

@@PlayStation_Paradise I loved the first homeworld, barely touched the second one, and desert of kharak was ok. I didn't like the remaster however, beyond the graphical update they poorly implemented many mechanics like the formations and it shows that gearbox lacks the skills relic had. I ended up firing Midway and almost finished it in one sitting =D

I got this game on steam on a whim, I didn’t think much of it and I couldn’t get the hang of the tutorial. Might give it another try. What’s the best way to play it in your opinion?
@PlayStation_Paradise
@PlayStation_Paradise Жыл бұрын
Make sure it's your monitors resolution and widescreen, and patched to the latest version, www.pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Battlestations:_Midway Then do the tutorial, then try the campaign. That'll take 1-2 hours and if you don't like it then, then it's just not what you like. Was there anything in particular you had trouble with in the tutorial? Like the sub mechanics?

@PlayStation_Paradise
@PlayStation_Paradise Жыл бұрын
Oh! Yes I know exactly what you mean. The plane controls on the PC version are bad. You can use a controller but it's iffy in my opinion. The best balance I found was keyboard and mouse, and just using the mouse for flying. It's not ideal, but it's more than playable imo.

Tunuh, looks like a fun game to try. Are you still going to be beating all the ps2 games?
@PlayStation_Paradise
@PlayStation_Paradise Жыл бұрын
Yeah! Tbh I'm not sure how to cover them. For next video I'm going to try to make it more of a journey with me through the game. Less editing, less formal and "analytical", but a longer video. I'm also a little unsure how to title them :x being a youtuber is tough :( Feedback is always appreciated.
@SLRModShop

@@PlayStation_Paradise My feedback: be yourself, do your own thing. If you try to copy someone, there's already that someone. And if you copy them, we're missing out on TunaCats... Which is a shame. "beating all PS2 games" is probably a challenge that will be more detrimental than good. Honestly, a few years ago, my interests were totally different, I had an electronic company. Nowadays, I'm a software engineer... By the time you'll finish this challenge, you'll be a different person... Chances are, you'll give up midway through... So, might as well accept that asap and just go with the flow. Just do what you feel like doing, the way you see fit, and have fun. That's my feedback. (and I put this game on my wishlist, I'll probably play it next weekend. I've been having a blast playing some early-2000's games lately. So glad it's on Steam, that's what I was hoping for throughout the video)
@dopesteeloe8934
@dopesteeloe8934 Жыл бұрын
@@PlayStation_Paradise fair enough. I like videos of people's experience playing a game, especially for older or random games I've never heard about. If I'm not going to play the game (which is the case for most older games) it's good to see the experience so it's almost like I've played the game and its been condensed into a video, like a more articulate version of when I was 13 and my friend is telling me about a game he got for christmas and played over the holidays. But if I have played the game before, it's always good to get someone else's opinion and view to see how it matches with mine (on the flip side). But as long as you have fun playing the game or making the video, that's the most important thing. I just like the idea of someone making videos about playing every ps2 game, that's a cool concept. But if it's another game that's cool too, I like your videos regardless.

Something I noticed with WW2 games is that we always get the points of view of the Allies, but I want to know what the Axis forces were thinking. How did the German soldiers feel when the Waffen SS would barge in acting like they owned everything? What did the Japanese think as they waited on the island shores for American troops, or their navy forces for that matter?
