Every few years, we get games like The Order: 1886 that push graphical fidelity but unfortunately provide little substance. But this game has something special I think in its setting. Being a Knight of Arthur's Roundtable, a long-established medieval order that fights against mythological and supernatural terrors, during the Industrial Revolution when we were discovering so much about the world is so ripe for worldbuilding and storytelling that it hurts the IP has been left to die. Of all the slop we get, I'd take a reimagining for this IP any day.

Exactly, it's such a fascinating setting with so many cool ideas and mythologies blended together that you could do anything with it; comics, an TV series, a movie, different genre of game, whatever your fancy. It deserves better than dying with this game.

The Order 1886 sits well with games like Ryse Son of Rome & The Callisto Protocol imo.. graphically a beast with a few gameplay shortcomings and short play times.. still enjoy them all though
@PointsofData25 күн бұрын
The potential for the story setting is what drew people in and why it received such harsh criticism. IIRC it was marketed to people as you were part of an order that hunted werewolves (or at least supernatural creatures), and so people went in expecting to be fighting supernatural creatures and learning about how this whole world operated since you were part of an ancient order. They spent the whole time building up to a sequel instead of delivering on what was promised. Plus the QTEs...so if you were there for the story it didn't deliver, and if you were there for the gameplay there was barely any. So if it were to be revisited, it would have to be with a writing heavy team who understood what the initial appeal was. It'd have to be given to a studio like the one who did BG3, otherwise it's just another wasted oppoertunity...

I played this game five months ago for the first time. It definitely has its problems, but I have to say the main story is surprisingly interesting. The weapons are pretty cool too. I do wish we fought more fantasy creatures because this game has you fight humans way too much. For example why couldn’t we fight vampires or have a Jack the Ripper final boss? It does bum me out this game has a huge cliffhanger in the end. I could definitely see this being a decent trilogy
