You should test the deadzones on the joysticks whenever you make videos about 3rd party controllers because for me thats the most important part that makes or breaks a controller. I say this because I typically find that with a lot of these 3rd party controllers the sticks have large deadzones and really make the controller feel cheap and unresponsive.
@adrianpadin18402 жыл бұрын
This is one of my major issues with the original Hori Split Pad. The joysticks feel nice but they have a huge deadzone, to the point where I can't play games like Hades that require precise inputs because I feel like I'm steering a boat when I move around. Too bad the sticks on my joycons keep drifting and Nintendo refuses to acknowledge the issue
@Maybe_Saber2 жыл бұрын
@@adrianpadin1840 I had the same problem but with the 8bitdo ps4 styled controller and its even worse on larger controllers since the sticks are physically larger and have to be moved further making the problem even more noticeable. @@user-xn3kt6bn5r I actually had tried it and it was like there was still a 5% deadzone even when set to 0% so when actually set to 5% it was more like 10% and I even went and returned it for another one and same issue. It was awhile ago and I don't really use my switch that much anymore but I still watch wulf den and reviews from time to time. Just wish they would mention the joysticks and their quality considering they help market these controllers to an extent and bring in sales. The nubs add twisting rigidity and make the switch feel a lot more like a single object rather than just 3 that are held together by the rails alone. They're not necessary, but they go a long way in making the switch feel more like a unit than without. I wish more large joycon used them.

Just got this split pad to use on certain games. I play games using the d-pad about 80% of the time. The d-pad on this thing is just about perfect. If you use the d-pad like I do, you will know what I’m talking about. I own three awesome 8bitdo controllers which I absolutely LOVE, and the d-pads on those aren’t as good as this one. Hint: try playing a Mario game climbing a ladder or a vine, if you SLIGHTLY lean your thumb to the left or right while holding true up or down, most all d-pads will take the input as right/left and you’ll fall off the vine/ladder. Great trick to test any d-pad. 👍 Anyway, another great video on this channel! 🙏

The frustrating part about the motion controls is knowing that the Switch tablet DOES have motion controls, and they just didn't botter using it.
@mymusicaljesus2 жыл бұрын
The entire subject around motion controls is maddening because SO MUCH could be EASILY FIXED by the littlest bit of effort from all of these companies. PlayStation and Xbox have had gyro built into their controllers for years now but it’s rare to see them implemented in a practical way for any of their games (eg: all shooters) - they’re usually reduced to some useless feature in some odd title once in awhile. Nintendo is leading the charge and it’s pretty much expected now from their 1st party titles as well as ports brought over to the Switch, but then sometimes they just don’t follow all the way through like you mentioned. It’s the main reason I use a XIM Nexus gyro controller now to play Xbox/PS console shooting games instead of their own controllers. They could easily fix this by encouraging developers to implement them in all their games. Instead, XIM gets my money so I can fully enjoy my games. (Sorry for the ridiculously long rant)

I prefer the Joy-Cons in portable mode for the more relaxed story-based games where I'm going to benefit a lot from HD Rumble when it comes to immersion. A good example is Kentucky Route Zero (excellent game by the way). For more intense gameplay, I just want something that's going to allow me to play the best I can. For instance, the Split Pad Pro is my preferred way to play Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. The feel of the triggers really works for me in that game, and those smooth analog sticks make for some easy and precise steering with the left one. Gotta say, I'm digging the gray and yellow for the Split Pad Compact. I know there's an all-red version too, but I prefer this one. I think it has kind of a retro vibe (maybe late '70s/early '80s). I wasn't going to get one since I already have the Split Pad Pro, but I might consider it if the buttons, analog sticks, and grip feel nicer. The BinBok controllers and ones like them are fine I guess, but they're a gamble when it comes to quality. I prefer going the officially licensed route with Hori's offerings.

6:28 - You can remap button layouts in the Switch settings to solve this. So, for example if I wanted B to be on the extra back button of the Left controller, I'd remap the camera button to function as B in the Switch options (bypassing the inability to map buttons from the right to left, because B is now mapped onto the left controller!). Then map the camera button (now functioning as another B button) to the button on the back of the left controller. Voila! For me personally. These are amazing, my joy con drift is really bad so much that I’ve stopped playing handheld entirely because it’s impossible to play. The joy cons don’t feel all that comfortable in my hands anyway so these will be a worth while upgrade

I actually have two 8bitdo controllers, two of their USB receivers and the Binbok since I started following your channel.

I really enjoy that the Zelda test is still canon.

Those nubs you sawed off the back are probably there in case somebody sits or steps on the switch with the split pad attached. They'll direct the force into the switch's body instead of just ripping the rails clean off the pad/switch. That's my best guess, anyway. It's kind of an inelegant solution if you ask me.

The compacts buttons seem just like the lites which are perfect to me I miss them when I got my oled and they were more clicky.

for anyone wondering, the test switch fired ZR roughly 63,072,000 times - i just did the math 8:00

Originally got the binbok joycons and they were way too plastic-y feeling, also the A,B,X,Y didn't feel great. The Nexigo came up on sale at one point for ~$30 and decided to try it, and it's so much better. -there's no flat spot to stand it up on the bottom of the (grip nub) but the buttons feel so much better and I actually prefer the flat buttons, not sure if it's because they have less travel as well or what but def feels better. If I played more in handheld and didn't want wireless i'd have probably got these when I saw them.

These are fine but for me the Satisfye grip negates the need and 8bitdoSN30Pro is still my go-to when not in handheld. Feel as though the big N missed the boat here, those GameCube joycon by ShankMods and other Nintendo-themed & shaped joycon from 1st part with all features could have sold thousands. Great content as usual WulffMan.
