What supposed spy plotline? There was no such thing. Holdo was just holding back information because she could (and because she "didn´t want to look heroic") and refusing to tell anybody if she had a plan or not in the middle of a major crisis, when everybody was afraid for their lives. And when Poe asked her directly, she responded with bizarre metaphors about hope being the most important when the sun don´t shines instead giving a clear answer. The entire spy idea was something the audience came up with to make the entire storyline look slightly more reasonable than it was.

I accept what Harloff said. I've had this same conversation with friends. The Last Jedi is beautifully constructed. The look, the sound, the drama, its captivating, especially if you're swept along by the excitement like Harloff was. But the longer you think about it... it gets worse and worse and worse. the main issue on the second film is that it broke one big rule when you are doing the trilogy. You pretty much ended all plots hock in the second film. You gave nothing for the 3rd film. Main big big offer in the first film. kill him off. the rebellion/resistance. they can all fit in one ship now. So yeah war is over you got no one left. Main hero for the middle film. Plus, Logan is acknowledged as a film set in an alternate reality to the Wolverine we knew from the main X-Men series because it was not part of the main continuity. Logan was basically an elseworlds story, like Joker and The Batman from DC. So therefore you can experiment with a more bleaker story and have it make sense why his character is that way.
@Eye_Of_Odin9786 ай бұрын
Exactly. Plus, that was originally going to be Hugh Jackman's last time playing the role so they went for an adaptation of Old Man Logan because OML was one of Wolverine's most popular comic runs. When people compare Star Wars to Marvel and DC, it doesn't make much sense because Star Wars never started out as a comic book or pulp-style miniseries. It is and always has been ONE cohesive universe and storyline. The only time it received a "comic book style" reboot was when Disney bought it and wanted to trash half the the content because they thought they could do better. (They couldn't, and Revan from Knights of the Old Republic is still far better than ANY character Disney has crapped out)

I have a theory. It's all because of John Carter. That movie was Disney's first attempt to create a Space Opera franchise. It was DOA and lost millions. Word of mouth killed it from previews. The sites like Aint It Cool News were grassroots and could make or break a genre picture. Disney went into war mode. They built up a PR war machine and cultivated their shill media sites. Instead of working hard to invent something new, Bob Iger bought StarWars, and spun up a huge online influence campaign. They deliberately went on the attack, making sure to go on offense as soon as the first TFA trailer hit. They deliberately put "fanboys" on the defensive in order to create an emotional bond with their product that the public must not listen to "the fans" of genre content. It has been a never-ending litany of using angry clickbait to make the public angry at nerds. They never actually built anything anyone would care about. But they did pay each other a lot of money from investors. Falling feels like flying. For a while.

Captain Phasma being better in TLJ is the only true thing they said, in TFA (the worst Star Wars movie) she does nothing and despite being radical enough to go along with destroying multiple planets, immediately capitulates the moment a gun is pointed at her laser resistant armor (a traitor and a coward) then gets tossed in the trash like a total loser after causing her faction's defeat.
