"Right now, there are people all over the world who are just like you. They're either lonely, they're missing somebody, they're depressed, they're hurt, they're scarred from the past, they're having personal issues no one knows about, they have secrets you wouldn't believe. They wish, they dream and they hope. And right now, they are sitting here reading these words, and I'm writing this for you so you dont feel alone anymore. Always remember, don't be depressed about the past, don't worry about the future, and just focus on today. If today's not so great don't worry! Tomorrow's a new chance. If you are reading this, be sure to share this around to make others feel better. Have a nice day :)" -Despair A comment from the 40mil video that really stuck with me.

"The Name of Life"; This song expresses every possible emotion, from apathy to sadness, from joy to nostalgia. It's not melancholic, but not empty, sad but not depressing, hopeful but not cheery. It's perfect, a combination of rhythm and pitch, forming a beautiful melody that flows through everything and everyone. This is the name of life-- the music, the emotion, the soft hum, the beauty within.

Wonderfully put, yet I implore you to try and hear within this song there’s one that can not feel all emotions, one that will not appreciate life and all it has to offer, the good, the bad, and because they are there somewhere hiding, this song is so complete, deprived of all need to fit in, it fits in everywhere, a glass half full and half empty, But hey don’t let me ruin your song

Spirited away really reminds me of when i was a kid and I'd go to the bath house with my mom. The hot spring waters and the cool showers were really nice. The food too. They had saunas, libraries, and a lotta other cool stuff. Just watching this movie really reminds me of those days when i was just a kid reading the books in the library of the bath house and eating lots of food after a nice warm bath. That place was my favorite place to go. This whole movie, from the colors, the music, the voice acting, the setting, it all gives me such a strong sense of nostalgia to those days i had with my mom. I wish i could go back in time and re-live those moments. I can't express enough how much this movie means to me and how much emotion and feeling it gives me. The feeling i get from watching this movie is the same feeling that i get when i'm in that bath house place reading, eating, and being carefree. Now my parents are getting older, and i hate the fact that they're someday not gonna be here anymore to go to that special place with me. i wish i could go back to that place, but we're in lockdown, and that bath house moved places and changed their design to something more modern. When i went there i felt like the magic of that bath house just disappeared. The coziness of the clay walls, the warmth of the wooden floorboards, and the welcoming feeling of the mosaic stone with all the leaves and bamboo stuff in the bath were all lost. instead replaced by sleek minimal designs. But maybe someday i'll find that place again. Or a place that holds that same calming magic from my child hood bath house place.,, thanks to whoever read this, have a nice day and stay safe, wherever you are.

Maybe the feelings you had there and the time you spent weren't special because of what you were doing but because of who you were with. My parents are growing older too and as I look back I only wish I could cherish them more. Love them with more of my heart. Spend more time and be with them more. I miss how times were but maybe they don't have to be gone. Sit down with your mom, remember how times were. Maybe you can bring them back. Life doesn't pass and go, it flutters about, waiting for you to catch it again.

Everytime i hear it, I remember all the things that are worth fighting for, even if those things are me myself. Everytime i listen to it i remember the beauty of life in the chirps of the birds outside, in the bell sounds of some kid's bicycle,in the air all around, in the empty notebook which i can fill with whatever I want, in everything surrounding me, and most importantly, in the person in the mirror.

The movie and the songs put together are just the best match- Everytime I watch Spirited away again or even if I listen to the songs and see the art, I just feel nostalgic towards the movie. It's like missing someone or something, the emotion of that is extremely strong, but I can't just grasp what I miss about it. When I was watching it I just didn't want to it end. I have no big goals or purpose in life if death take me now I wouldn't care, listening to this piece makes me happy, eating food made by my mother and all the fun memories that I got to have with my family and friends I can live with those memories alone life is hard but it's not as dark as people present it. May this piece give that feeling of tenderness to everyone who are tired from this existence. Love ♥

This is going to be a long comment but I want to share what I feel with this song. Imagine you finally graduated. To celebrate, you and the friends you made along your harsh way through school, the people that maybe were the stars illuminating the dark sky of your everyday-life, go on a last trip together. You had a blast exploring the city, playing volleyball on the beach, going onto the open sea with a motorboat and doing all kinds of activities. The time passes way too fast because you were all just enjoying yourselves so much. And on the last evening before departing home again, you sit on the beach underneath palm fronds around a crackling camp fire. The ocean is calmly rushing in the background and the skies are brightened with stars. One of your friends is playing a gentle song on the guitar. And you know this will be the last time you all are together like this since now, you all will be going on different paths in life. Some will maybe start a family, some others will perhaps have a great career. But by now, in this moment, you all are one. Together. Inseparable. Slowly growing tired as the night comes. And you wish you could have this moment last forever but knowing it‘s bound to happen otherwise. This mixture of gleefull happiness and extreme sadness is what makes this moment a distinct, forever lasting memory. I can‘t explain it any further but this... this is what this song sounds like to me...

I actually had similar flashbacks of my last days in college with friends. This music always takes me back to that time, and i can feel all of the emotions as it's happening now. And what makes it more beautiful is the fact that it's been 7 years, and all of us are on our different paths and it's nearly impossible to meet together. It just enhances the value of those memories

This song helps me so much in therapy. I always compared therapy to that scene when Chihiro finds the bicycle in the spirit and then every garbage just start going out, but now whenever I need to reflect into myself and work to get better, I listen to this song and remember the scene when Chihiro cries in Haku arms after seeing her parents, because she had gone though so much and need to let it out before starting to work hard. And I'm at that stage in life when I just need to cry over and over to let go all the things I kept inside, and realize how bad I felt, in order to find the strenght to go out. So really this music and this movie in general helps me so much !

I can't not cry when I hear this. This song reminds me too much of a time back when I would plop myself down in front of the TV wedged in between the shelves of my bookshelf after a full day of coloring turkey's and lady bugs at school. I remember I would always go the little black plether case holding all of the movie disks I'd begged my mom for, and I would always pick out a Studio Ghibli movie.. usually Ponyo, Princess Mononoke, or Spirited Away. I would always snuggle up in a heap of blankets on the floor, the Hello Kitty blanket my mom sewed for me across my lap and my favorite stuffed bunny in my arms. I had named the stuffed bunny "Bun Bun" because I couldn't pronounce the word "bunny" when I had gotten him. I cant remember when I had first watched Spirited Away, but I know that it had quickly became a favorite of mine. My mom and I always bonded over those movies, and I'm sure I annoyed the living shit out of her with how many times I wanted to watch Ponyo, but she never complained or said anything bad. I miss that so much.. back when I wasn't crying writing a youtube comment about what it used to be like. Back before my bio father decided to try and take custody of me away from my mom. I hope to everything that he doesn't win the case, I don't want to live with him I want to live with my mom. I want her to see my sweet 16. I want her to be the one to see me grow up. I dont want him involved. He hurt me so much by leaving when I was a little kid, I thought he would die a lot, and I cried myself to sleep because of the thought that I'd never see him again. Who would've thought that right now I'd be crying because I never want to see him again...

I love coming to places like this especially when I need a good cry. Normally I come by quietly, have my cry and let my feelings wash over me as I listen to the stories of others then quietly leave. It is comforting in a way, that despite everything others will leave light and warmth in places like this. So, I want to offer mine as well, it's not a lot and we likely will never meet, but... I hope everything at least makes progress towards getting better. Things are easier to bear as you learn how to bear them after all, even if it's exhausting.

I really love this song's everything it pair well with the name. As it plays I always somehow cry and bring up the question what identity does life give to us or as the title says what is the name of life. Is it suffering, happiness or something else that we cant fathom to understand. This song playing while watching the movie just it so much more beautiful as it finds a way to somehow to portray so much emotion. The song was well i personally don't want it any other way. Otherwise I find it funny how one song can make so much emotion coarse through your body like a river filling every corner of its given space, its makes just want to be there with the protagonist, it's so remarkable how it makes me rethink everything its just to good of a piece. Props to you Joe Hisaishi.
