Adam was one of those songwriters where even if you didn’t know his name, you most likely heard and loved a song that he wrote. He was one of the most prolific and versatile songwriters that I know of.

I went to see Fountains of Wayne sometime around 2009 and stuck around after the concert to try and get an autograph. Well it worked, but instead of signing it and sending me on my way Adam invited me and my girlfriend to have a beer with the band. There I was having a beer with my favorite band in a random bar in Orlando, Florida for a good twenty minutes talking about music, physics, and the upcoming album which turned out to be their last. He was super nice and hilarious. RIP, the world is worse without you being here.

Adam is one of the greatest and most important writers of the past 25 years, probably more. We were robbed of all of the incredible future creations that he would have made. He's someone I looked to for inspiration in my own writing, whether I was doing it consciously or not. It would've been an honor to meet him. Unfortunately, I never had that chance. Rest in greatness, maestro.

And I am so sorry to not have know his name and work because until 2021 where the CXG was on TV at 5 am , 2 episodes most times, because of my sleeping (+) disorder(s), otherwise I would have a framed Poster or a flag on my wall ! I can't even buy it on DVD and the upper floor is not only literally coming down on me. So I am sitting outside, freezing at maybe 80 lbs, singing my heart out ubtil another teenage Gang comes, trying to run- jump- kick me in the back from behind. Thank whatever made me spin on the last 4/4 rythm.

Adam Schlesinger was a musical genius. I can't remember the moment I realized that he had worked on all of these cool movie/tv pop songs, but I do remember the feeling of being blown away. I was already a fan of Fountains of Wayne, but to realize that his body of work was so much larger than that, and the quality of it, was really awe inspiring. The world is lesser for his passing.

Thank you for this. Adam was an absolute genius and to see so many people lovingly speak of him shows how many lives he touched. I'm still gutted by his death but the tremendous music he gave us will always bring me joy and is his everlasting legacy. I'll never cease being amazed at his ability to effortlessly switch styles and write just the right line. I'll also be forever mystified by his seeming obsession with songs about hippies and driving. It was all gold.

It had been nearly 50 years since they put out a truly great album, but he helped deliver just that. I listen to it often, and was so sad when he left us, WAY too soon. I have fantastic memories of listening to Fountains of Wayne and Ivy songs when I was younger. My parents had a very large CD collection and had found both bands by chance. Fountains of Wayne has always been my favorite band and that will never change. Memories of dancing to Ivy songs (specifically "Edge of the Ocean" and "Lucy doesn't love you") with my mother in the living room will always comfort me. His songs are essentially the soundtrack of when I was younger. I'm still young, but this man will always be one of my favorite musicians. I had always dreamed of one day getting to meet the man who wrote and played some of my favorite songs. When I heard that he had passed away, I cried so hard. I started watching Crazy Ex Girlfriend just to see what else he had been working on after I read about his passing and instantly fell in love with the show and Rachel Bloom. Thank you for putting this touching tribute together. I hope he rests in peace

I am sad that he may well be one of the greatest writers of a generation and he isn't that well known outside of the industry. There have been many times I have gone, who wrote this I think I know but can't put my finger on it...and it usually turned out to be Adam. He has a particular style that he could put into any genre, yet, one that can never be reproduced by anyone but him. He has certainly left his mark on the world.
