Makes me reminisce of my old neighbor and I can remember the older gentlemen sitting around on Friday and Saturdays nights smoking their cigars drinking beer, gambling and listening to this music. Those men where real men who took care of their families and protected the neighborhood.

I met Mr. Bobby Blue Bland in 1965 in Detroit Mi ,at a gig held a t a Cabaret Hall named Soul City on Joy and Beverley Rd. I was a young person trying to break off into music. At that time Mr. Bobby Blue Bland had a Revue and a Big Band just like on this post. He gave us permission to perform and he had his band back us . Man what a blessing. Since that time I have been in his presence ,he has always been a class act. I love this brother and always will. The young performers today I believe they do not have the great mentors like him that we had . R.I.P. My Brother .

I was raised on the Blues, My mom use to date Elmore James, so it was instilled in me from the time I knew anything. Lowell Fulson, Roosevelt Skyes, Little Willie John, Junior Parker, CHarles Brown, BB, Freddie, & Albert King. Lighting Hopkins, man I could go on & on. But I remember the day that she brought home "The Feeling Is Gone" By Bobby Bland. Talking about a life altering experience. I would neve be touched like that again until Jimi Hendrix & Buddy Miles. Key up this video to 6:30 to hear quite possibly is best song that he ever sung, I know from the time her recorded it, until the time he stopped touring it was always in the line up! Just listen! He's a great singer & I have many songs that I love to hear him sing. But this "The Feeling Is Gone" runs second to nothing!!!

+gateswf Do you know when this was recorded? The suits look like 50's-60's. What horns add to a show is priceless. You can get the same sampled sound from keyboards, but its a poor imitation to a real horn section.
@gateswf8 жыл бұрын
+gateswf The sound and resolution make me think this is more recent than the 70's
@gateswf8 жыл бұрын
+gateswf Ah, the Peavey amp, the guitarist is using, that's 80"s. My guess is this performance was in the late 80's. Guitar, 60's Gibson 345 with a Bigsby tail piece, hard to keep in tune but, the guy makes it cry....

I was so blessed that My Mom raised me on playing Bobby Bland, and BB King, and Billie Holiday, and Al Green, Wes Montgomery, Les McCann, Cannon Ball Adley Album's. In which she has passed them all to me.. There are so much more.. I definitely treasure them, and I play them often. So I was VERY HONORED that a really good friend of mine took me to see Bobby Bland and BB King, and my friend made it possible for me to meet them both. I asked BB if I could kiss 💋 Lucille. BB said that he has not let very many Ladies kiss Lucille, but he said that Lucille was very due for a kiss, and I got to give her a well needed KISS 💋. 🎸
