RIP Bob Newhart. Great entertainer. One of Newharts great phone conversations: 'Mr. Carlin you sound so down in the dumps. Where are you?...You're down at the dump...' Brilliant

A long and very successful career. His first and classic album "The button-downed mind...." came out in 1960, and he has entertained the world every since. He seemed like a genuinely nice man, and it feels like we have lost a real friend. Thanks for the memories, Bob.

Bob Newhart wasn't just a comedian; he was a beacon of joy and wit in our lives. His humor transcended generations, bringing families together around the TV. Every laugh, every smile, was a gift from him to us. RIP to a legend who showed us that clean, clever comedy could touch hearts and change lives. We'll never see another like him. 💔 😞

So sad to hear this news. I remember listening to him as a child in the sixties in the UK as my dad was a huge fan and bought an LP of Newhart . Introducing Tobacco to Civilisation is still as funny today as it was when the man first recorded it.

Growing up in the region as a preteen thru adult in the entire 1980s decade, that opening intro and music of the show"Newhart" Hearing it today takes me back to a better, happier time in the world for me as I vividly remember watching a new episode that ran every week during those years it was on from 1982-1990, gathered in the living room with my loved ones all gone now.

I grew up watching his 80s sitcom as an innkeeper in Vermont. I watched his 70s sitcom in reruns. Rest easy with Suzanne Pleshette, Mary Frann, and everyone else from both shows. Only Peter Bonerz, Julia Duffy, Steve Kampman, and Larry, Daryl, and Daryl are left.

I read Newhart’s autobiography years ago, he said Don Rickles would say over and over to everybody, “ Bob Newhart is my best friend!” And later, Bob was very sad when Don died, so I wonder, is Don giving him a big party on the 3rd plane? 😮
@haeuptlingaberja49272 ай бұрын
I grew up on Don Rickles, Redd Foxx, Mel Brooks, Richard Pryor and Cheech and Chong, not to mention Rodney and all those Catskills funny men, but the friendship between Newhart and Rickles is maybe the greatest testimony of the possibility of pluralism in the decaying American Dream. There was a time, 50 years ago and more, when we really believed it was possible.

The finale of Newhart was genius only if you were familiar with the bob Newhart show and knew that Suzanne pleshette played his wife on there. I loved the show Newhart but the ending was completely confusing to me and I wondered why the studio audience went crazy with applause when Suzanne turned around in bed to reveal herself. So it may be lost on future generations that watch Newhart but not his first show. Bob Newhart a class act comedy legend. He’ll be missed.
