I’ve been reading A Righteous Thirst for Vengeance and finished 20th Century Men on Skip’s recommendation. The last thing I told him was thanks for the 20th Century Men recommendation. I wish I caught more of his podcasts on Fantastic Four. He was always in good spirits and I would never have been able to tell he was dealing with cancer. He had great comics taste and was always friendly and from what I can tell was generous with his friends. He never got involved in polemics and always focused on craft and the bright spots. I hope he got to read all his bucket list comics. And hope he reads the best comics in heaven.

20th Century Men was the last comic we read together, that one's always going to have a special place in my heart. Skip loved Remender and even if Righteous Thirst wasn't one of my favorites, I always loved how much he loved it. You're completely right about how he was always above the noise and wouldn't let himself get pulled down into the muck and negativity. I know he's up there talking comics with Kirby right now.

Many people would attribute the stories in this video to the power of Comics and their ability to bring people together. But all of this is a testament to who Skip was. A man who always made REAL effort to support people in meaningful ways. Regardless of background, geographic or even ideological differences. He was a real friend, through and through. And I miss him dearly. 💜

My prayers go to his family 🙏 I didn't know Skip personally but interacting with him in the chat and listing to his wisdom on the "Comics are Dope" podcast made me feel like I did. Rest Easy, Buddy.

Skip loved the Comics Are Dope community. I loved how when Kicks would give him a chance to plug his stuff with "where can people find you?" His answer was always the Comics Are Dope Discord. He loved talking with people in every forum, especially the chats. He's earned his rest for sure.

Life is like a comic n every comic has an end. No matter how much u like that comic...u will get to d last page n it will end. No comic is complete without it's end n once u get there...only when u read the last words will u see how good the comic is n it feels real. RIP Curtis 💜. To u Ben, that was really beautiful n a credit to u as a good friend doing justice in his memory. Peace n love, brother.

Peace and Love, Farhan! This is a beatiful sentiment and it's well received. Whether we're ready for it or not, everything must end eventually. Positive people like Curtis and you make the journey along the way worth taking. Be well, my friend. I appreciate your words and I appreciate you.

I'm so sorry man. It's been amazing to see the love for Curtis come in from so many corners and from so many people. People from comics, people from his music work, people like you who have known him since forever. This man touched so many people's lives and made them better.

I'm still in shock by this news. I've known Curtis for about 11 years. We worked together at Apple and quickly bonded as friends. Outside of work Curtis and I had lots of musical interest, and spent many days in the studio working on music together. I also had the pleasure of mixing and mastering, Curtis's last album with Roving Jewel. Thank you so much for playing his album! It means so more now to hear that again! He will greatly be missed, but never forgotten! His creative legacy will always live on! Curtis,... if you're listening from heaven, I just want to let you know that I love you man! Someday we will meet again... Oh, and Bunkmaster B thank you for posting this and being such a cool friend to Curtis! He did mention you're show and really enjoyed chatting with you about everything comics!

Thank you so much for sharing your experience with Curtis. In addition to comics and fatherhood, music was one of the things we bonded over. I like dream pop a lot, he LOVED it. We talked about some of our favorite albums like Souvlaki and Heaven or Las Vegas. Love hearing that you did the mixing for the Audio/ Visual Department release, Curtis was so excited for the release. The Twitch release party was great, with the band breaking it down track by track. Speaking of those tracks, with names like Healing Happening and Ascent, it felt all the more meaningful. I love that Curtis' presence was felt by so many and spread across so many different people. I hope I honored his memory with his video.

Chris ... thank you. When I made this video, I kind of just thought it was going to be a way to get out a lot of the thoughts I had jumbled up in my head after Curtis passed. Hearing that this video has helped someone else during this tough time, I appreciate the heck out of that. I hope you and all the rest of us that are hurting are able to find some peace. Gone but never forgotten.

Mostly knew Curtis through the Comics Are Dope Podcast and the Justin Greenwood interview. Loved his perspective on books/stories and his welcoming spirit. Now I've learned even more about him through your heartfelt words and memories. Thank you for sharing this, my condolences to you and everyone in the community who had the pleasure of getting to know him. 💜

I loved when Skip and Kicks would sit down for a conversation, just two, wonderful, positive people showing each episode why comics are special. If you liked the Justin Greenwood episode, Skip interviewed superstar artist Nick Dragotta on his channel, very much a similar energy to the Justin podcast episode. kzbin.info/www/bejne/fJWxiWCLZb12gLs

Thank you, it still doesn't seem real. I'm kind of still thinking that he's going to leave a comment about how sappy this video in a loving tongue and cheek way. The biggest thing his passing does, though, is reminding us to appreciate how great this hobby of ours is and how great the community can be. Thank you for being a wonderful part of this community, Dominick. I appreciate you.

This video was an amazing tribute and insight into some one who was clearly amazing. While I didn’t know him personally it’s clear how loved he was in the online comics community. I’m so happy you have these awesome stories with your friend and that you will always have these books that will remind you of him. Comics are an amazing medium and there really is something special about them.

Jack Kirby may have said "Comics will break your heart, kid" but they can also uplift your heart just as easy. It's easy to be angry and jaded and negative. It's way harder to be positive and constructive. People like Skip show us it's for sure better to be the second group.
