Tears roll down as I view this, and though I only got to study/meet him for a weekend workshop in Portland several years ago, his spirit permeates my heart and soul. His brilliance and smile will always be something I remember. Rest in Peace, Mamady.

Wow Thanks Ms Monette Marino for a this memorable video about the late King Mamadi. I was born and grew up in Guinea. During my childhood, I used to sneak behind the house, crossed a busy street to see Mamadi keita in reahersal with the Ballet Joliba (place called La Paillote) and that's where I learned my 1st Guinean dance steps. I worked as an educator today in Washington and many asked me why my dance moves are so great? No class ever. Just growing up seeing the Joliba. Also, 1 of my late sister was married to his best childhood friend Seku Tanaka. The 2 came together from the village to Conakry. I loved how Mamadi helped Sekous' children succeed. A very responsible and kind full of gratitude man is gone. I am heart broken. I don't know all his children, but through KZbin I know Nasira Keita and mom- Sorry Baba Mahiri Fadjimba Keita (kids&culture summer camp) Sorry. Rest in peace King🛖🪘😢

In the djembe camp at Stanley Ranch, during the weekly Q&A someone asked him “what can we do to repay you for all your hard work”. Mamady said ‘Teach what you have learned”.

I never knew Mamady Keita but have been following his drumming for the last 5 years or so online and have attended workshops with Kim Atkninson, Babatundi Alatounji, Munequitos, and Arthur Hull and consider Mamady Keita to be on the level of Babatundi.... Your spirit and presence will be missed.... I hope to attend Tam drum workshops soon. Can I get some info on next time and place?

Quand on a joué on a dit Ouh eh beh eh beh... Donc Djemb Eh beh La vrai histoire du Djembé elle est plus complexe, parce que il est venu pour remplacer le son des fusils. C'est Dieu qui l'a créé avec ses mains d'homme. Oui
