Matthew Perry might not have created Chandler, but he created everything Chandler became. It was Robin Williams and Matthew as Chandler who shaped my sense of humor. They helped me cope with my parents divorce, finding ways to fit in by standing out, and learning how great it feels to make someone smile. Not a week goes by that I don't think of a Chandler-ism and its brilliant delivery, or find myself putting just that Chandler touch to sentence. Beyond the character, I followed Matthew's career and rooted for him in every series. He was always the guy with incredible heart, flawed but hopeful. When I lost my mom, Go On saved me from my darkest thoughts. It was always Matthew who I rooted for and who I'll never forget.

Being a chubby girl I was bullied at school and home was filled with abuse so there was no safe welcoming space for me. I escaped into books, tv and movies. Those were my lifelong friends and mentors teaching me. The first time I saw Matthew Perry was a teen movie called Dance Til Dawn in 1988 I was 4. When I tell you I wore that vcr tape down watching it. Then he was my favorite part on Friends. He battled his demons I've certainly had my own to battle inside my depression. 54 is just so young to leave this world. I hope he is getting the peace now his soul fought for. I just heard about this 10 minutes ago. It’s a shock. He was so young. And now you are making me cry by talking about what he meant to you. It’s strange how people we haven’t ever met can have such an impact on us. RIP Matthew

I learned everything about sarcasm from him. I like friends show, and he was definitely the guy I hope I could look up to for conversation skills.

This hit me as hard as when Robin Williams died. We grew up with these actors. I was also severely depressed as a kid, still am but friends seemed to have been a comfort blanket, watched it all the time. They may feel they're just actors, but they mean so much more to us. I'm so crushed over his death. He will be missed x

This is terrible. Loved him in The Whole Nine Yards. Everything I saw him in, interviews, news for charitable work, etc he seemed like an incredible man. He will definitely be missed

I forgot about that movie. Him and Bruce Willis. Apparently they had some bet and Bruce lost so he appeared on Friends. This one is going to hit hard for awhile.

My whole sense of humor got a ”face” with Chandler Bing and was shaped by him from then on. Very sad what he had to go through and how it ended. Amazingly funny actor.❤

RIP Chanandler Bong...lol you were truly a light in this dark world and I hope that you have found the peace that you deserve. Your strength and perseverance were honestly an example that no matter how far we fall we can always pick ourselves up again.

It just hit me that Matthew Perry in Friends was the most talented and funniest of the whole cast. The most relatable and real..so talented and he had such a struggle with addiction. He deserved so many more years on this earth to enjoy happiness and it's just so very sad ❤

What you are feeling is valid. It's okay to mourn on your childhood hero even when you never met them in person. It's the same feels to a lot of people too, including myself, when Kobe Bryant died. RIP Legends.
