Remembering Nicolas Economou is a documentary about the life and work of classical Cypriot pianist, Nicolas Economou (1953-1993). Accepted at a very young age at Moscow's prestigious preparatory school for musically gifted children, he later moved to Germany, where he launched a career as an internationally acclaimed musician. In this capacity, he collaborated with numerous renowned artists, such as Martha Argerich, Maya Plisetskaya, Rodion Shchedrin, Chick Corea and Friedrich Gulda. In addition, he composed several scores for films by directors such as New German Cinema exponent, Margarethe von Trotta, as well as Nico Hofmann and Maximilian Schell. A brilliant musician and a socially conscious critical thinker, his life was ended abruptly in a car accident after his return to his native Cyprus aged 40 in 1993.

Nicolas Economou certainly was one of the best pianist in his time. I love him! He deserves to be well recognized. I'm sure he had so much more to give. Thank you so much for the upload.

Thank you sooo much for posting this. The scenes of his interaction with Martha Argerich were very special. The closing unspoken shots of those who loved and knew him spoke so powerfully.

Un artista superlativo, una técnica maravillosa al servicio de una sensibilidad exquisita. Dentro de el uno adivina el fuego sagrado que arde sólo en pocos, muy pocos.
