This is not just the best Nigerian football generation till date but the best African generation of all time. No disrespect to the Cameroon class of 1990. Many may say am saying this because am Nigerian but that's not the issue here. These guys commanded and aura where ever they played on the planet and they practically opened the flood gates of an African exodus of football talent to the rest to the world (you can't talk about fellow African's like Asamoah Gyan, Mo salah, Didier Drogba or Mane etc. without a link to this 94 generation). Besides being a well represented team they raised many eyebrows putting African football on the map, giving respect to the African game that was previously seen as the perennial whooping boys. So you can say what the Roger Milla generation Cameroon couldn't attain they went beyond simply world cup tongue twisters and shot for the stars. They built up international response to the African game beyond 1994. Absolutely classy that's what the Nigerian Golden Age represents.

I was 7 when i saw the 1994 usa wc, i'm from Italy and i'm pretty sure of 2 things 1 if we had not Baggio nigeria would have won and probably reach the final 2 if Baggio would have not exausted himself so much ( along with all the team) against the supereagles Italy would have probably won the 94 cup. I always loved Nigeria's team since that times, i played football for fun and i was into athletic as a kid, so as a football player i had just 1 good weapon, my run. In Italy they say that without a great technique You can't be a decent player...Nigeria that day almost defeted one of the best italian team ever in wc history. I just fell in love with that team and Still a big fan . Cheers from Italy to all supportes of the great supereagles , and a big up for my two favourite players from nigeria amokachi 💪 " the bull" , and tijani Babangida ( all iss pro players must love them as much as i do probably) 😁

The Golden Age. The most fearsome squad ever assembled on the African continent, that 94 Super Eagles team. Yekini, Amunike, Okocha, Finidi, Eguaevhon, Rufai, Oliseh, Amokachi, Adepoju, Okpara, Siasia, Uche, Lawal, Keshi, Babangida, Babayaro, etc. They could have gone all the way if not for man's jealousy towards his brother and the foolishness of pride and senseless ego of some so called professionals. Why did they scheme against Yekini and were not passing him balls after the first game? It pains me so much that this generation couldn't complete what Cameroon started in 1990. Love from GHANA

Each time I see Sunday Oliseh, I am reminded of his debut against Senegal in 2002 African Nations Cup we co-hosted with Ghana. It was quarter finals' march, I suppose. We were a goal down. Prior to the match we knew Oliseh would not play because of Malaria fever. Well, the coach put his team captain in the bench. Seeing Oliseh in the sideline watching the game with all apprehension as most Nigerians do was adorable. In fact, he persuaded the coach, we hoped, to play in the last quarter minutes. In less than five minutes of his introduction Oliseh provided the genius long pass to Aghahowa who netted the equaliser. Thereafter we dominated the game with a winning goal. Oliseh marked out the best footballer ever in the annals of football in USA 94. And that his and colleagues' first world outing. Argentina could not score against us, except in a dead ball situation. If he had played in the semi-finals against Brazil in Atlanta '96, I'm convinced we wouldn't have gone that extra mile to beat Brazil. Oliseh's generation of national players was Nigeria's best. They were world class players. Perhaps, Mikel would match, or better put surpass, the ranks if we qualified for the next world cup.

Nigerian players never went overseas to play professionally back then, but that team had some great players that you guys may never hear about today because of the poor quality of the video of those games. Their biggest achievement was winning the 1980 African cup of Nations trophy. Talent wise though that team stacks up equally, if not even better than the 90s squad.
