I saw The Tubes in Newcastle on 13th May 1979 on their Remote Control tour of the UK. I was 12 (TWELVE). I hung around the roadies afterwards and one of them took me backstage. Met the whole band and they fussed over me and my friend who was a year older for what seemed like hours. Gave us loads of gifts and Re Styles organised a whipround of the roadies to pay for a taxi as we'd missed the last bus home. Still one of my standout memories. Lovely people and Re was so kind and attentive, and made sure we got home safely. She really was beautiful inside and out.

Re was amazing. Had the good fortune to see The Tubes three times in the 70's. She was a show-stopper! Dearly, missed. RIP, Re/Shirley.

Three times during the 70s?!!? That's awesome! I didn't get a chance to see them until they were touring to support "Outside Inside". By that time, Re was no longer part of the band.

Living in the Bay Area I was lucky enough to see The Tubes Live. The high point was seeing them on New Year's Eve in Berkeley. They pulled out all the props and filled the stage with performers, motorcycles, cages and leather bound creatures of all persuasions. It was an absolute spectacle on many levels. God Bless Re Styles and the Tubes.

Re wanted to get off the bus because like Greg Rolie and Steve Perry of Journey. Re needed to stop and reset. Touring then recording continuously takes its toll on our beloved musicians. Although she loved the band and everyone in it..Re needed to just be Re. So she got off the bus and just became Re the landscaper and floral person. Cheers to Re And cheers to The Tubes for letting Re be Re.

I really loved the tongue in cheek Kitsch of "Don't touch me there" WLS played it often on the radio during my High school days. It was my intro to the Tubes, and I became a big fan. As a matter of fact, they were the last band I saw in concert I saw before lockdown. I would have loved to have seen Re come out and assist with DTMT and Prime Time! That would have made a great show go over the top! RIP to a lovely lady Shirley Macleod, I'm hoping the life she had after the Tubes was a happy one.

Thanks for this awesome deep dive on Re Styles. Have to admit that 99% of our Tubes knowledge did come from Talk To You Later and She's a Beauty. And those are terrific songs, of course. But now you've inspired us to dive deeper now, so we truly appreciate it!

Re Rocked! RIP... I was a fan of the Beans before they became the Tubes...1969ish, Phoenix, AZ...Locals will remember Bill Fry's Music Store, on Central Ave south of Camelback...I worked right next door. As an aspiring guitar player, I got to meet a lot of very cool people. For me, the combination of Spooner and Steen was magical...All good things come to an end...I never met Re but I can assure you she was one of the cool people!

Very, very nice tribute to "THE" female voice of the Tubes. IMO Re Styles was a huge part of the Tubes sound on "Remote Control" which is far and away their best album. I also felt for many years that the group lost a very magical part of their "Sound" without he sensual smooth voice of Re Styles. RIP Dear...

Re was wonderful and the tracks she featured on, like 'Don't Touch Me There' and 'Prime Time' are great catcht poptunes. I like to think 'Don't touch me There' channels Jim Steinman/Meat Loaf and Phil Spector and is just such as gem. According to a very recent interview with Fee Waybill, Re left the band because she really didn't like being out on the road, tour buses, etc and she left just after the prime Time tour and before they started work on 'The Completion Backward Principle'. Thanks for this tribute! RIP Re

I saw that interview with Fee as well. It's great to know that all of the band members thought so highly of her throughout her life. Thanks for sharing!

I just saw an interview with Fee Waybill. He said she just hated touring. She had enough of traveling in a crowded bus. She hated leaving home at all, and they would be on tour for 9 months at a time. She just had enough, and made a necessary change in her life style. Re Styles style changed to another style. They remained friends, and Fee has nothing but good things to say about her. She sounds like a real classy lady.

I purchased The Tubes, "The Young and Rich" album on a whim back in 76 or 77 after I had heard friends chatting about them. I was blown away when I heard the album. After several stoned out listening's of the LP, I became enchanted with the sexy voice and vocals of Re. When I finally got to see The Tubes live, I fell in love with Re. WOW! She was beautiful and oh, so sexy and her voice could turn on any male teen. I was able to see them live several times, including The Palladium and Central Park. I wish she had done more work with The Tubes. The chemistry between Re and Fee was amazing on stage, performing "Don't Touch Me There", "Mondo Bondage", and "Prime Time". I wish she had performed further with them. I was not aware she had passed until I saw this video. I'm getting up there and years. Perhaps I'll have the opportunity to meet her up there when my time comes. Rest in peace, and beauty, dear Re.

In a recent interview here on KZbin, Fee states Re couldn't handle touring. Riding around on a bus with a group of guys for months at a time was too much for her, and that's why she left the band. Fee had nothing to say but great things about her. I did get to see them in "77, fantastic. I found the Fee interview. kzbin.info/www/bejne/eoC6m3msd6dofbM&ab_channel=RockHistoryBook
