Great video! This reminded me of Boardwalk Fun/White Water in the 80's. A Ford dealership now sits in it's spot in Grand Prarie. I went looking for some videos recently and unfortunatley did not find much.

Appreciate that, my friend. I have also been told there was safari drive through in Grand Prarie too. Lots of cool history in that Grand Prarie Arlington area.

@@theoutseers Yes, Lion Country Safari, which would eventually be called International Wildlife Park. It closed in the early 90s after several floods ravaged the park. There's little trace of that park as it's been redeveloped recently with warehouses on the property.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boardwalk_Fun_Park I got to ride that pathetic "roller coaster" once before the accident... As I recall, the cars were made of... plastic. Cheap plastic. - Like a child's toy.

OH MY HEAVENS... I thought I had made this place up. I thought I was just dreaming.... After 30ish years of trying to remember this place, it's name, where it was... and today... today August 24, 2024... I learned I was not crazy or nuts... there really was a place we went too... two years in the 70's... bought my mom a pair of earrings there that as far as i know... she still has today....My memory is really not great... and had started to think I made this place up.... Thank you to KZbin for slinging this into my algorithm... thank you. Just was in Dallas in July and was JUST IN THIS very area... to think... I was just right there... crazy, Thank you so much... only took me three years for this video to pop up... but, better late than never at this point...lol

Allen Saxe, a U.T. Arlington Political Science Professor, wrote a column in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram or maybe the Arlington Citizens Journal. Anyway after they closed 7 Seas he wrote: "When you step into the voting booth ask yourself: "Would you buy a used whale from this man?"

🤣😅 "used whale." God, that hilarious! Thanks for that Johnpatrickkinggrandpa. Will definitely share with family and friends on Thanksgiving.

I went there a few times as a teenager. The city of Arlington had entertained thoughts of reopening it, but the company had poured concrete in the drains/ sabotaged it to make it too expensive. There was also Lion Country Safari, around the same time, off Belt Line Rd.

You are mixing up memories, it was White Waters water park that Wet-n-Wild bought and filled the pipes with cement. Wet-n-Wild was then bought by Six Flags and is Hurricane Harbor now. White water was next to the Wax Museum in Grand Prairie.

@@theoutseers, I did a quick search. Apparently it was around longer than I thought. “Lion Country Safari, Inc - Grand Prairie, located at S Belt Line Rd, in Grand Prairie, , Texas, United States , was founded in 1971 and the first elephant arrived in 1972. Lion Country Safari, Inc - Grand Prairie closed down in 1992.” I remember news reports that they suffered from decreasing attendance and severe flooding.
