My first time seeing Terry Funk was at nine years old when he attacked Ric Flair, and pile drived him on a table. He was already a LEGEND way before that , but that is when he became a LEGEND to me. Rest In Peace Terry and Bray.

Was there a guy in wrestling that wanted to entertain you more than Terry Funk? Just something ti think about His late wife was the heart & soul of the doublecross ranch. Would imagine Terry was lost without her to an extent. What gets me is when he passed all i heard was jokes about his 16,000 retirements & thats all they could think of. I know we live in a day & age where we laugh at everything , well i didnt feel like laughing at Terry Funk when i heard he died. Maybe it was love & respect all those years. Wrestling was good to me , im not going to shit on that one bit. Appreciate life while you still have it

🎵Desperado, why don't you come to your senses? You've been out ridin' fences for so long now Oh, you're a hard one I know that you got your reasons These things that are pleasin' you Can hurt you somehow Don't you draw the queen of diamonds, boy She'll beat you if she's able You know the queen of hearts is always your best bet Now it seems to me, some fine things Have been laid upon your table But you only want the ones that you can't get Desperado, oh, you ain't gettin' no younger Your pain and your hunger, they're drivin' you home And freedom, oh freedom well, that's just some people talkin' Your prison is walking through this world all alone Don't your feet get cold in the winter time? The sky won't snow and the sun won't shine It's hard to tell the night time from the day You're losin' all your highs and lows Ain't it funny how the feeling goes away? Desperado, why don't you come to your senses? Come down from your fences, open the gate It may be rainin', but there's a rainbow above you You better let somebody love you (Let somebody love you) You better let somebody love you before it's too late🎵

TerryFunk was a legend it’s always great hearing these stories. Stallone really did have great relationship with TerryFunk and was a genius getting the real view of how wrestling works. That went on to Rocky movies along with others with Stallone. Imo Terry Funk came back to wrestling physically bigger after his big Hollywood movies lol. Terry Funk vs Ric Flair match Terry was in great shape. Terry Funk had great ideas in his matches when people laughed at him but only few seen the big pic and were seeing it today in wrestling.

Thanks for sharing this and doing this episode! Just listened today in 2024. Terry was right! I've had 9 knee surgeries and have needed mine replaced for a few years. I remember that Shotgun Saturday Night episode. I watched it the day it aired. I loved Terry and always drove to see him when he came around. I drove to Jackson, TN 3 Hours each way in 2015 or 2016 when he battled Lawler once more! Wish I had the pleasure to meet him, but I have a couple of signed things from him and some other items. Thanks again for posting this! I was smiling and laughing several times throughout the podcast. Much respect

Much like Bruce the reason I fell in love with wrestling was because of the Funks. Especially Sr. and Terry. Loved the Amarillo Territory but sadly there is little video out there. Got the show on a TV station out of Abilene, Texas. First match i ever attended was at the Brownwood Coliseum with Terry main eventing in a Russian Chain match against Cyclone Negro. August 1971. Maybe my greatest memory ever. Before his match Terry was going all over the arena signing autographs. It was all about the fans.

I am late because it's hard for me to word this. I'm 35 and Terry Funk's prime was well before my time. However, he got me into wrasslin. When I saw Terryman from Kinnikuman do the spinning toehold I was like "Man this looks painful and awesome." and well. I was hooked and my anime fandom bled into wrasslin' thanks Terry.

Definitely a tough week for the wrestling world. I don't watch much anymore I will go on KZbin and follow a couple people that interest me but I haven't sat down and watched raw or smackdown all the way through in years besides maybe one here and there. But Terry funk was an absolute legend and a hell of a worker. But at least through all the injuries and everything he lived almost 80 years. That is a good life for anyone especially a wrestler and especially a wrestler who beat their body up as bad as Terry funk did. But Bray Wyatt passing at such a young age will always leave the fans wondering what if. As over as he was as many things as he achieved the ball was dropped numerous times with him. Usually through no fault of his own although a couple times it was indeed his fault but he still was a brilliant mind in the business and someone who reinvented themselves over and over and we will never get to see the push and run that he deserved. I can't say I knew him so I'm not like devastated or anyting but I truly feel for his family and friends and the millions of fans who loved him. Rest in peace to both these gentlemen. I don't believe in heaven or an afterlife or God or anyting so I can't say oh they're off wrestling somewhere but their legacy will live on forever.

As a little kid near Amarillo I saw the Red Raider with the spinning toe hold and wouldn’t quit. Dory Sr jumped in the ring and the RR put the toe hold on the old man. Terry came running in and suffered the same fate. Then the show ended. They were saying Terry can’t get in the ring he’s still in college. It had to be his first “in ring” appearance because it was 1965.

As well as doing a perfect Terry Funk voice,Bruce also sounds exactly as Harley Race did.Dory Funk Jr is also my reasoning for staying interested in wrestling. He was a heel in Australia in 1967 teaming with The Beast managed by Rudy labelle, who was in fact real life brother of The Beast. Cormier l think was their surname from Canada.
