That's a great video, it's nice to see you do something different. I just watched Count Dankula's video about the Christmas truce, it's an event that should be celebrated and discussed way more, especially during this time of year.

Probably down to the anniversary but my YT feed has just thrown up a video released earlier today on the " BBC Archive" account entitled " 1968: Remembering the CHRISTMAS TRUCE " (Haven't linked in case YT blocks my comment) and features interviews with a number of soldiers who were there at Christmas 1914, British and German. Their stories seem to confirm both that the football match took place and also that the truce extended for a week till the New Year. May be of interest unless you have seen it already. I visited Ypres and some of the sites around a couple of years ago on the return leg of a bike tour to Germany, will definitely make a point of returning at some stage although being Scotland based the logistics are a little bit more involved. Looking forward to your Boxing day vid.

Thanks for the video Tim. Very interesting and touching. I’ve heard about it before but to get more detail and physically see the area involved was fascinating. Makes me appreciate yet again how lucky we truly are to be warm and safe at home this Christmas. I hope that you enjoy your Christmas with your family, take care, Webbo

Thank you for this! I doubt this would still happen today in Ukraine or the Middle East. Or maybe it does. That’d mean there’s still hope

Thanks for this, we can’t imagine the horror of those times. Christmas these days is somewhat different 😂 from then and rather lost the point, a good reminder of what matters especially after what Russia did in Ukraine today (Xmas day). Anyway back to squabbling adult kids and wife and mother who loathe each other yay.

Very moving and needs to be told lessons learned, tho it seems human nature keep on making them . when I was young I remember hearing WW1 stories first hand That’s all in history now. Second World War first hand stories soon be all gone .

Paul mccartny WW1 Pipes of peace I believe a lot of solders had to be taken off front line due to refusing to fight after meeting the enemy on Christmas Day . Not sure if that was tue .
