My friends, you bow to no one... except these wonderful video games. Following the Rings Of Power release, I wanted to reflect on such a rich collection of classics. These are not only some of the best movie tie-ins that exist, but also the liberations taken with the franchise created some lifelong memories. Now, let the celebration begin!

Love these games. Star Wars had some solid ones in the catalogue, but most every LotR game was gold (RotK, Middle Earth, Third Age especially). This channel's a great way to revisit some of these gems (especially under-appreciated entries, like Conquest and War in the North). By and large, media properties were fascinating back then because the books, movies, and games would flow together and create a level of world-building and intricacy that was greater than the sum of its parts. Great stuff pal!

War in the North and Conquest were my favorite games for awhile there I loved Conquest, and even though it had a little bit of jank to it, I still played it a lot of the time. One of my favorite things about it was the ragdoll effect and how it was applied to almost everything if you could play as it and it has some of the funniest things I've seen in a game. Especially with the hero characters. There's something about Gimli getting sent flying and ragdolling after being killed that just never gets old I like to imagine how it would be if something similar was made today and what would be added. I do know there's an indie dev team that's working on a remake of the game so I really hope everything goes well for them.

The Return of the King was that game I will always go back if I have someone to play with. As for The Third Age, the simple fact that you could explore Moria and Helm's Deep is enough to convince me that this game is one of the best ever made. It's nothing new today since you can do the same in today's games (like Lotro) but back then it was unique. It's sad that character development was poor but it's still a sick game.

Third Age and Battle for Middle Earth were always the best LOTR games for me. I never wanted to play as the established known characters, I've always preferred to play as a nameless character within the TOLKIEN lore. I guess the idea of starting my own adventure or building my own army within in Earth was what excited me more. The story of Frodo and the fellowship has already been done, I wanted my own adventure.

The Third Age I played for weeks, it's really an amazing game - When it came out while I was in high school, TTA and Elder Scrolls: Oblivion were the only games I played. I remember I had to get a friend to buy me Oblivion since I was on house arrest when it released, so I had a lot of hours stuck in the house doing nothing but playing RPG's. I'm just now getting into LOTRO which you didn't mention, but maybe you were only referring to non MMO games?

Loved the nostalgia trip. So many of these games are definitely products of their time and they could be greatly improved if remastered and released today. That said, with such great source material we know at least the stories would be solid. My only suggestion for future videos: maybe mention when games were released across multiple consoles? War In The North for example, I have that for PS3, but you mention the 360. Maybe I just missed it, but anyone watching that’s interested in a game might think they can’t play it if it’s not “available” for their owned console

I wish the battle for middle Earth games would get a revival. I have so many fond memories playing through them. And the third age!!! My goodness I spent some time playing that as a youngling. I didn’t really understand how to play an RPG the first time I played it. I got stuck fighting the balrog for the first time as I didn’t have the revive spell on my elf. But I was so in love with it, I spent the learning the mechanics and really fell in love with gaming because of it.

I'm an 80s/90s kid and my introduction to LOTR was the Ralph Bakshi movie. My uncle showed it to me when I was 12 or 13 and I've been a Tolkien fan ever since.

I would love to see you do a video of your first time playing The Third Age! Used to be one of my favorite games ever right next to KOTOR!

I was LITERALLY just thinking about this series yesterday! I remember playing Lord of the Rings 3 (ps2) in coop mode with my cousin at my Dad's apartment. I really hope they get some sort of remasters. Not sure if I played the first one, but I do remember the other two. I have a copy of the 3rd game on xbox, but it does not work on 360 cause it freezes.

There is one LOTR game I remember playing with my grandpa. I cannot remember the title but I remember it being a more adventurous game. All I can really remember is running around a plains land and fighting wargs.

My parents wouldn't buy me a proper console for years and all I had was the GBA, I played the shit out of the Two Towers for GBA, I remember it being pretty expansive with weapons you could pick up, upgrades, and when you reach the end and there's A MOVIE CUTSCENE OF HELMS DEEP! ON A GAMEBOY! Man that was living.

Conquest was such an amazing game, I was devastated the day the servers went offline. I waited weeks for them to come back before I realized what had happened. I made so many friends in the game. We’d share secret abilities, and play single player in the maps to study them and figure out new spots. I had so much fun with the archer 😭 I can’t understand why it died out so suddenly

Conquest and The Third age were so dope as a kid, I played the third age but never beat it I’d just play the first chapter unlock the orca then restart after I got bored. But the amount of hours spent was a joke. Thanks for the bid the nostalgia alone in this video for me is enough to leave a like!

The developer/publisher of Fallout and Baldur's Gate made my favourite Lord of the Rings game, which came out for the SNES. The game has a steep learning curve, but is worth the time. Such a great atmosphere, and the multiplayer is a lot of fun.
