This was one of the absolute best videos I’ve ever watched on KZbin. Mr. Morris Reece - you made it incredible by “Just being yourself” all the way through. I was born August 1944 so I identify with all you said. I personally met Patti Page at the Convention Center in Rochester, NY. In 1983. My wife and I were invited up to her dressing room. I got to hug her and had 2 pictures taken with her with my Polaroid SX 70. Patti autographed both of them. It was a very memorable moment. She was so beautiful and she sang one of my all time favorite songs - Old Cape Cod..

I remember hearing the Little Jimmy Brown song even in the 1960’s era. My husband’s stepfather forbade him to read Mad magazine even though my husband as a child, (since he was 8 yrs old), was working selling newspapers in street corners in LA in 1959 or 1960 and bought Mad magazine with his hard earned money. That’s how it was in some families growing up. I was raised in a protective and stable family environment and saw good qualities in this young man early on. As soon as he turned 20 going on 21 yrs. old and I turned 18 going on 19 years old, we got married since after graduating from high school we were both blessed with good jobs to start our own life together. We’re still going strong now married for 52 years and have enjoyed helping other young ones along the way since we don’t have children of our own…just two dogs at different points in our life that were like our children. ❤ Thank you Morrie for these videos and your diligent research. Love your entertainment/music studio. 👍

"Roses are red, Violets are blue -- you have the nose of a B-52." That little ditty was recited by some fellow schoolmates back in the 1950s when I was in elementary school in southern California. The B-52 shown in this video reminded me of that.

Wonderful! Thank you! I was born in July, 1952. However, my mother was 6 months pregnant with me when she set up my father's veterinary hospital in Milledgeville, Ga. My father did all the plumbing work and the carpentry work and my mother did all the managing and, for some time, she did the kennel work. We lived in the storage room of the clinic for more than a year, my father, Mom and my sister 2 1/2 years older than me, until they could afford a down payment on a house a block away from the vet clinic. My mother spent a week in the hospital after giving birth to me due to exhaustion. She weighed 98 lbs. when she gave birth to me. They might have had a radio. When I was 4 years old, in the 100+ house they bought a TV.

I'll always remember 1952. It was the year I turned 7 years old but more importantly, my parents bought our first tv in the fall of 1952. That was a thrill, experiencing new technology and I recall just after we got it, we saw a contest advertised that was giving away as a grand prize, a " 1953 Chevrolet ".

We had a TV in 1949. It was broken by the time I was born in 1952. I remember it was a beautiful piece of Mahogany furniture. Then we got a huge B/W Philco set which babysat me for years. No wonder I am damaged goods.

I was two years old in 1952. Our first TV that I remember was a Hoffman. In the listing of top radio shows, you left out Arthur Godfrey's radio program. He was very popular, and could be controversial. I recall sitting in our kitchen with my mother and listening to him broadcasting from Florida. He mentioned something about how the feathers of the flamingos reminded him of "ladies' pink underwear." He could get away with stuff like that. A folksy character that people related to. And some folks found him brave and inspiring because he had survived a horrific car accident in which he broke 47 bones. After that, he suffered chronic pain, but didn't let it stop him. Later in his career, Godfrey did some rather mean stuff like firing Julius LaRosa on the air, and buzzing the control tower at Teterboro Airport in his DC3. He temporarily lost his pilots license over that, and people began changing their minds about him. They began perceiving him as arrogant and egotistical. He graduated from radio to TV, and had a variety show which featured new talent. Lipton Tea was one of the sponsors, as was Chesterfield Cigarettes. Godfrey was notoriously rude to sponsors, but they still wanted to advertise on his shows because he was such a successful salesman. He defied the racial barrier by having black talent on his program. Many folks admired him for that, though TV stations in the South refused to air those episodes. Eventually, he developed lung cancer and had to put his career on hold while he was having it treated. He underwent surgery that got rid of the cancer, but he struggled with Emphysema, and when he tried to get his career back on track, times had changed and he could no longer secure a TV show. By then, he had tarnished his reputation to the point that nobody wanted to work with him. When he died in 1983, nobody attended his funeral. A very sad and lonely outcome.

Love your videos. I'm typically not a fact checker but I remember the first Holiday Inn opening in Memphis, TN. I was 11 years old and I remember (barely) my Dad and Mom shopping for an appliance at a store owned by Wallace Johnson and Mr. Johnson introducing them to Kemmons Wilson who founded the motel chain. I remember them talking about the unique sigh for Holiday Inn and my Dad and I going to see it on Summer Ave in Memphis. I like your singing also.

Born April fools 1952, remember the 50s with TV valves and the back of the set perpetually off and on. A seminal year for many reasons in rural UK, what a haven it was then looking back. All those songs and many more, Perry Como, Slim Whitman on crackly 78 wax. All these years passed without war at home, let's pray it lasts.

She didn’t want it as my Dad thought it was evil but they left it! We watched Beanie and Cecil and Kookla, Fran and Ollie

Do you remember “Lamb Chop?” Shari Lewis had this sock puppet on Captain Kangaroo in 1956. I just looked this up on Google because I couldn’t remember the name of the girl. Kukla, Fran and Ollie first appeared in 1947. My Mom & Dad gave us 4 kids a choice of having presents under the tree at Christmas or have a TV in the house. We wanted the TV and it came into our house before 1949.

I'm sorry to say, you are in great error stating the NCR UPC scanning system was in 1952. The first store in Ohio was in the late 70s, by The National Cash Register Company, now known as NCR corp. Universal product Code was invented in the 70s. Lasers were not even thought of in 1952 which is the reflective light source for those scanners.
