Remembering "Z Princess"

I love her too. I used to breed Thoroughbreds and only have one now. Patrick's Legend born March 16, 1997. He loved to run and won his first race at Golden Gate in 2000 by 9 lengths. We love going on trails at 25 years old. Best friends since day 1 when I delivered him. I will make plans to visit her soon. God bless, Patricia Jean Allen

Years have passed, but never ever will we forget the first Princess Z. . My tears still come from watching this beautiful filly and her Mom, Queen Zenyatta. The loss is still felt. Sweet girl. Gone way too soon.

As she matured she had the look of a champion. Tough not to shed a tear when you look at her and how proud her mother was knowing she would only be in this world for a short time. It makes one stop and think how precious life really is. Rest in peace Princess Z.

@@bigr6298 Yes that is what I meant by "being the one". There was just something about her that, unlike her two brothers, was so "Zenyatta like". I still mourn for this precious filly -- and so sad that her life was cut so short, so soon.

@@carolreilly4785 I agree with you. Horses are worth protecting, loving them, and crying when they die. I still cry over my horse who died in 1988. His loss is as painful today as it was the day he died. I miss him as the friend he was. Horses are worth crying for because they give their human every thing they have; they will die for us if we ask. They can be great friends and companions who love their people. Zenyatta's foals that were lost are missed because their mother is a GREAT horse and we want to see a part of her to continue to show how that greatness can live on. We the people who follow and work with these horses want them to be with them forever. And taking care of a son or daughter of a great horse allows us to watch that greatness to continue to enjoy the parents.

@Karen Patterson the perspective of racehorses is that we can watch a creature who is greater than ourselves. Horses love us, protect us, and are the greatest creature God ever created. Also can and are our best friends. So if you can not respect these creatures than you should not watch videos about them.

Many racehorses do suffer. Your post confuses me, though. (With your wording, I'm not clear on whether you're blaming humans for what happened to her or not.) This foal did not suffer due to human greed, she just had bad luck. Horses hurt themselves frequently in the field. During her six short months of life, she had a proper horse's life, free in the paddock first with her mother, later playing with other weanlings. And the last is what killed her, unfortunately.

Brenlee Gentry She suffered a paddock accident which resulted in a broken back. :’-( The loss of this magnificent girl was and still is gut-wrenching. I honestly believe she was destined for greatness, just like her mom.
