Michael Stipe posesses that intangible trait of being able to make all of the lyrics sound meaningful and memorable. And thats on top of having a voice that simply cuts through the music to dominate, even though he's not that loud. The perfect lead singer basically.

It's funny because if you didn't know who he was, you wouldn't expect this skinny and sometimes even sickly looking quiet unassuming guy in a basic t-shirt to come out and belt out THAT. When the music starts, Michael just has this complete and utter command of the song and the stage. While he may not look like it in the traditional sense, he's a rock star in every sense of the word.

Just like a lot of people think that The One I Love is a love song..but it is far from a love song. In fact..it's about as far away from a love song as one can get. And yet..people use it as their Wedding song. :-) :-)

They keep the tempo slow like the original. Brilliant drumming as most drummers would get over excited at playing such a brilliant, crowd pleasing song. But the drummer just keeps it slow and the slow tempo of this song is what makes it more powerful, more moving. There are so many times in the song where you feel they’ll speed up, but the drummer just keeps it steady. This enables the whole crowd and the band to really bask in the song, really enjoy it, savour it.

I remember hearing this song for the first time when I was 11 and thinking it was the best thing i'd ever heard...R.E.M were the best thing through my teens and music now on a whole is so important and a daily obsession. Watching this now and I realise that i'll never get that buzz of a new release again....They were and still are great... such a shame.
