Thankyou Sir, for your very applicable review. With great respect, there's one aspect that is impossible to review. That is, where will the Remington be in forty years time? Will it be something that's handed down through the generations? With great respect to Remington, I'd be surprised if it is. There's usually a reason why goods are three times the price of their competitors. It all comes down to what the customer requires. For me, I love workmanship, craftsmanship, reliability and so. It's the Weirhaurch all the way, all day long. Thankyou. Thankyou.

I bought a Remington express compact for my great nephew who’s eight and he was absolutely buzzing, more like speechless for a change! I think for the money the compact is one of the greater starter packages. Though I’m a Weihrauch man through and through and have two 95k’s in 177 and in 22 along with my gorgeous hw97k in blue laminate in 22 then lastly my go too grab and go hw 99s which has taken out so many rats that seem to come into my garden to make home under the sheds. Yes I could have bought him a hw30 package but if he wanted to take out a rabbit as he progresses the Remington has the power to do so and that was my reason of choosing the compact. But I’m getting older and my guns will be passed down to the kids if they enjoy the fun and sport as I have, and had a lifetime of enjoyment doing so.

I haven't shoot an air gun or any gun now for years (Ex Forces) But we have visitors the four legged rat type who seem to love coming into our garden and eating on the ground from around the bird feeder. Have just bought a Remington Express on offer new for just under £85.00 also brought a Hawke scope second hand so near on ready to go. Sold the scope that came with the remington for £15.00. As for how long the rifle will last for, I doubt I will be using it much. So if I get four years use from it I will be a happy bunny. Our gardens only 20 yards long with a six foot breeze block wall around it so no problems there. if I cannot hit a rat at under 20 yards even at my age I would be amazed. Will let you know how I get on. Good video have subscribed, all the best Cliff

I have had most of Weihrauch models over the years, and it's their rekord trigger that always puts them ahead of other makes. I started shooting with them from the early 80's before moving on to gas ram from Theoben. The only one i still have is the gas ram HW90K, and compared to the Theoben's it is still an excellent rifle. Budget price rifles will still get the job done, but the improvements of higher priced ones give a real pride of ownership. Each to their own, it has taken me years to find the best ones to keep.
@pelletplaytime47852 жыл бұрын
I agree Allan, the trigger is sublime and I can understand why they are so well regarded in the air gun world. I would love to try a HW90. ATB PP
@jimmynich4791 Жыл бұрын
@Pellet Playtime Ironically the hw90 doesn't have the Rekord trigger. Walther LGV is probably the best break barrel I've shot but the trigger isn't as good as the rekord, I think only Diana's T06 trigger rivals Weihrauch's.

I own a Remington Express in .22 with the synthetic stock and plastic open Iron sights. Wouldn't mind owning a Weiruach and having that good German quality. Also to combat the issues of the Remington Express loosening up, you can use a small amount of local time on the stock screws .

I found they help a little but on the 95k it acts more as a extended breaking leverage, it's the spring slap that makes the sound more than anything!

I'm something of a novice as regards air rifle ballistics and I know it's a bit off subject but I have a puzzling situation [ at least it puzzles me ] I have zeroe'd the scope on my HW77 at 20 yards and it produces satisfactory groups. However, when I use the exact the same set up at 10 yards without any further scope adjustment , the rifle fires low and if it's fired at 30 yards the impact point is high. In all cases the point of impact is on the same vertical line Now ,on the face of it that would seem to be counter -intuitive as I would expect exactly the opposite result for a scope zeroed at 20 yards, ie higher at 10 yards and lower at 30 yards . I'm obviously missing something but what is it? Great video by the way!
@pelletplaytime47852 жыл бұрын
I would have expected the same as you buddy, that's very strange but it must be the height of your scope and the flight of the pellet combined. The results can't lie so that must be just the way it is. It would be interesting to see what happened if you changed the scope mounts for a different height? ATB MMMD
@festinger32 жыл бұрын
Pellet follows a trajectory arc. Scope is above the barrel. You will always get a lower point of impact at 10 yds if your zero is 20 and as the pellet drops away will again impact lower. I'd zero about 25-30 yds and set out targets at 5 yd intervals to note how much you'd need to hold over ( to compensate for a lower point of impact) for ranges closer than your zero. Make a note and it'll become second nature for that weight/type of pellet.
@temporecustos57222 жыл бұрын
@@festinger3 Thanks for the reply. After your explanation it's starting to make sense. I'll certainly try the method that you suggest.
@saltyc31942 жыл бұрын
@@pelletplaytime4785 Because the scope is mounted above the barrel, the line of pellet flight is rising until the near aim point where it passes through the line of sight in the scope from below. The pellet will fly above the line of sight of the scope until it falls through the line of sight at the distance you have zeroed. So at any distance before the near aim point the fall of shot will seem low (assuming perfect aim!)

Interesting comparison of very differently priced guns. I have an Express and an HW99S and like you I find the main difference to be in the trigger and the overall build quality. My express seems to be about 10% more powerful (can’t afford a chrono so I do the telephone directory test - what’s the deepest page the pellet can penetrate/tear) but the Weihrauch gets slightly better groupings, both scoped 9x at 25 yards. Both are decent guns though and I find the Express slightly more comfortable to shoulder (even though it’s much heavier), I’m 6’2” and the 99S is just a tad on the small side for me.
@pelletplaytime47852 жыл бұрын
Glad you liked the video Jon. Yeah I think the 99S is one of the shortest Weirauchs, not sure what the difference is with my 95 but think mines a wee bit heavier and slightly bigger, Take care buddy,

@@LowkeyAirgunner Yes, lol. They didn't like me spreading science fiction, which was the truth, otherwise they would have left me alone, because the other science fiction stuff on KZbin is allowed. See what I'm saying. Genesis 6:4 The Sons of God had sexual relations with human women and made demigods. Which sounds far out and like science fiction. But only some science fiction is okay unless you show the truth. Revelation 13:16-18 is about the mark of the beast. It says that He (Antichrist) causes all to receive this mark 666 in their right hand or forehead. It says that no man could buy or sell unless they had that mark 666. Kind of like what they're pushing now. Yesterday I looked up the word "transhumanism", it's said to be something other than human=demigod or transhuman. I'm sure they will be all over this.

The Remington is made in China, the quality is decent, better than just functional and it represents good value if you're on a budget. If you can dig deep and find another £80 you can buy a new HW99S, precision made in Germany with no plastic parts, the same adjustable match grade trigger as the HW95, adjustable iron sights, 11mm dovetail scope rail with arrestor holes, excellent bluing, ambidextrous beech wood stock by Minelli of Italy with laser cut checkering and stippling. In terms of quality and finish it's on a different level entirely. Plus, it isn't made in China.
