Somalia is experiencing the effects of post sanction lifts! The government is working very strongly in obligations to it's country and their solutions. The results are just the beginning and will grow the economy there to very large levels. Ameri Somali will see investments in Somalia in a few years grow, while they are abroad. With that begin their first taste of international investment. But that's how investments work. 😊I'm always happy to see positives in the Somalia economy. With Saudi Arabia growing to become one of the largest construction contractors in the world, Somalia has alot to prove in security, diplomatic relations, foreign engagement, as the African country will certainly manage concrete and steel after the Tragic Yemen Port bombing. Banks are going to hire! Educated Somali people will be top picks for Jobs in a few years! Literally the MOST exciting emerging market in the world- Somalia!

This isn't a long term solution to high unemployment. A better solution is to give public contracts for a profit sharing oil extraction to technologicallly advance countries with no political interest and exploiting the fish rich coastline.

This remittance was and still is a financial lifeline for many somali families and people but at same time, it has downside and bad influence for the long-term in the whole and in the public domain. This is especially true for politico, economic and financial sector stability of Somalia as a viable country. Due to the lack of official and financial public institutions such as national banks, all these funds go through or end up in the hands of few unscrupulous and and informal, if unthical, of the Hawala system like Dahabshiil, Salama, Amal, etc. that make fortunes out of it. But there are two big problems associated with and they are (1) they don't pay meaningful public tax to the country, operating license, nor annual registration fees like the normal banks do, not to mention lacking any regulations, checks or public accountability of their business conduct. They also currupt public officials and politiciations and other businesses . ( 2) They are fighting against or underming in re-establishing any viable and formal financial public sector like banks and other comptative private istitutions like banks to take a root in the country for the same reason: for their own good and untaxed and outright profits.

The fall of Siad Barre was a curse and a blessing to many...Somalia could be a wealthy country were it not for fanatics of a book written approx 1.2 millenia ago...

You need to go back and study history. Somalis have been living by Quran and Islam for centuries. It’s only after colonialism and foreign interference we find ourselves where we’re today. Somalia will rise again and we will not abandon our religion and culture to do it.

It should also be noted that it is also part of the remittances that is fueling the insurgency, that is why it must be monitored and documented so that the remittances are put into good use only.
