It's gonna come full circle. A new keeper is to be appointed, ie, clementine. The world's remade, humanity reborn to repeat an event they know nothing about. All rebuilt to suffer the cycle again. A loop within a system that none are the wiser to realize they are in. After chronos, we are no longer in the real world. Chronos is the end game, the rest are rather purely, and terrifyingly, virtual. We are in the mind and machinations of the original hero. This is my theory.
@mrbigglezworth42
@mrbigglezworth42 4 ай бұрын
Not entirely. Remnant 2's rather heavy handed explanation that Clementine did a hard reset of all existence at the very least had her repeat the worlds, but without the Root infestation. Thus far, the 2 DLC have been either before Remnant 2 proper (the Forgotten Kingdom) or sometime during the main story (The Awakened King). It's anyone guess if the final DLC will actually be set after the official ending of the game or just another reshuffling of events of a world we've been to. My money is on going back to Ne'rud and the hints that it's far future of Rhom being more concrete.

Both mention how the world ship was intentionally sent into the black hole with the expectation that the Drzyr would find the answer to their questions but it backfired horribly. If, IF, we go back to Ne'rud, it could potentially be an expansion of just what the hell goes on inside a ship trapped inside a black hole at all. Great video thanks! That genuinely clears a bunch up. Working my way through the final world of Remnant 2 and I started looking lore up online, and this really puts all those fragmented pieces together. Really good work, I love a lot about this game and its ideas, although the whole meta-simulation stuff kinda makes it fall apart for me a bit at the end. The connection to an old VR game is also pretty wild and I kinda respect it haha. Actually had and idea myself for a story about a post apocalyptic earth where some survivors stumble on some ancient secret in a cave and I swear at one point I conceived it involving a goddess figure kind of like Nimue. Bastards beat me to it in a sense haha, though I would have gone in a more up front Stargate-like/episodic expeditions approach.

Honestly I am not a big fan of the virus twist in Remnant 2. I would have much prefered if the Root were not a virus in a simulation but a real Eldritch entity created by Clawbone. I am never a fan of worlds being just a simulation, making the entire game somewhat obsolete as everything we fought and saw, all these cool biomes were not real. I love Remnant 2 as a game, the bosses are fantastic, the new worlds are great, but I despise the simulation/ virus BS and would have gone with a much more straight forward storytelling. Invade the Root homeworld, kill off Clawbone (maybe a corrupted Ford wbefore the final boss with Ford being the Annhilation) who as their creator would look very different from a Root monster, yet is still Eldritch and almost God like in appearance and presentation. Oh, and the worlds could have still healed afterwards, like Yaesha, Root Earth etc. loosing all traces of the Root infection.

If they replaced the glitch effects with wibbly wobbly elrditch magic what would actually change? In my opinion the virus is more of a metaphor or a slight fourth wall break to add an additional metalayer like the video discusses in the end. The series is really about Nihilism without giving a definitive answer what to do about it. The root is entropy incarnate. It only destroys and can do nothing else. The universe of Remnant has a backup to rebuild the worlds after total destruction happens, but we dont have that. How do we deal with that? Our universe will die at some point just like the root will inevitably destroy all of creation in Remnant. All we really can do is either rage against the concept of total annihilation of all existance or just accept it. There is no ultimate purpose in life or at the very least we have no definitive way of finding it. Personally I believe that even with that knowledge, that shouldn't stop us from living life in a way that is enjoyable to us and doing our best to make it better for the people that will follow or at least not making it worse for those around and after us. But how anyone personally works with that is not something anyone else can dictate.

@@cosmiclive4437 The story of the Drzyr is a pretty good example of that nihilism without an answer. They spent their civilization and lives trying to find someone else in the universe to talk to, to share their experiences with, and found nothing but empty loneliness. Even when we - the Traveler - come onto the planet-ship, the people are all already long dead and gone. The universe wasn't as lonely as they thought it was, but they all died out before they could learn that.

I'll be honest, I hated Remnant 2's story after I played it once through to the end. And I still do even after playing it again now. It felt like Clementine stole our thunder as the hero of the story, and we never see Founder Ford after he disappears into the World Stone at the beginning of the game. His appearance felt like such a wasted opportunity because he never appears again in our travels. Losom was an interesting setting but I don't really see how the story of the Fae and the Dran worlds merging affects the rest of the story against the Root. I'll admit that I liked the ending where it was revealed that we can't actually kill the Root, and I suspect that is because it has interacted with the World Stone(s) before. If you get a lucky roll in Yaesha you get to meet a lost human soldier who has been stuck on that planet way back when Founder Ford was just a military man. He admits to dying and reviving many times, getting older each time just like the protagonist in Chronos: Before the Ashes. But when Yaesha's World Stone turned dark, he and his fellow soldiers stopped reviving. He even gets killed and doesn't come back after you leave him - even though the World Stones are active again (thanks to us either now in Remnant 2 or the protagonist in Remnant: From the Ashes). Because of that soldier who teaches us how the World Stones work on people, I think the ending to Remnant 2 should have been a bit different, with us the players being forced to fight the end boss many, many times until the World Stone ages-out the Root, or we disable the World Stone and fight the boss each with our last lives left.

In the taken king DLC you can see tiny amounts of the root in his arena. The king became mad because of the root and was most likely Losom's version of the guardian holding back the root. Everyone else you fought took the boss artifact we needed to go against the root.

I love a friendly debate that doesn't devolve into screaming, so I welcome this conversation. Woke, by definition, is being aware of and actively attentive to important societal facts and issues. The fact that a multicultural group of people saved and accepted the protagonist and Cass into their society simply because they were fellow humans in need, kind of doesn't conform to the feminist agenda theory, lol. And trust me, I AM NOT a fan of nonsensical hypocritical feminists. Is Terminator 2 a worse movie than Terminator 1 because Sarah Connor changed from damsel in distress to bad ass? Remnant is about the struggle of a video game keeping us entertained. The people are just a machine AI's belief of what a "real" person is. It's like looking at AI art--something is just...off. All the "insufferable" women have a male equivalent. Ford/Clem are arrogant, self serving, and inconsiderate. Cass/Bo are young, stupid know-it-alls that are reminded that they're insignificant. McCabe/Riggs show the extremes of being a people pleaser and an antisocial asshole. I'm DEFINITELY not what you would probably call a "blue pill simp." Quite simply, some things aren't that serious. Looking for "wokeness" in insignificant things means being actively attentive to what you believe is a societal issue, which is ironically woke. Was the Marvels or Captain Marvel bad movies because they were woke? I beg to argue no--they were just terrible movies, lol. I'm not trying to be insulting or derisive, I'd like to know what other examples you have because I'm honestly intrigued.

@@ConsoleControlGames It's a game... so all the dialogue is written by writers; so everything is the way it is becaus3 they chose to make it so: Cass is a condescending bitch because they chose to make her that way. Ava is a condescending bitch because they chose to make her that way. Norah isn't as bad as the other two; but they still chose to make her a "young female" and give her the "what you think I'm too young to be a successful Dr." Trope. They chose to make Bo a SIMP for Clementine... they chose to make the "Some Old white Guy; Ford" a failure (as a family man and a leader) instead of a good/ tragic leader who had/ has to make sacrifices for the future of the Ward (no, that honor goes to his Granddaughter Ellen). They chose to make the "all powerful focus of the plot" an ageless young girl (who pitches temper trantrums). They even make it seem like Rigs might be gay; when he talks about his "Partner" Jed? All of these things are conscious narative choices... nowadays my "tolerance" for this crap is in the negatives...

@@ConsoleControlGames yeah... I don't agree with that "definition." 😉 Try this one instead: "politically liberal or progressive (as in matters of racial and social justice) especially in a way that is considered unreasonable or extreme." - I wrote an entire reply; and YT auto deleted it... we can't *really* have this conversation here. The first example of "Wokeness" comes from the very opening scene (the tutorial: the exchange between you and Cass) and the condescending narrative they chose to open with (just think of what it would be like for Ford to say something like "bla bla bla, Old Black Woman; bla bla bla.") not a "group of multicultural individuals" (even using that termonology is Woke... as far as I can tell; there's only "one culture" in Ward 13 "post-apocalyptic survival." Assuming that someone's skin color automatically denotes that they are of an individual "culture" and then labeling that as "multi" because they aren't all the same pigment is racist... you can have people of different skin colors share/ be a part of the same culture). 🤔 - Remnant 2 isn't "dripping with Woke," but it's still enough to leave a bad taste in my mouth.
