Remnant Soundtrack - Last Stand of the Wicked (Theme of Harsgaard)

This is not an official soundtrack for Remnant: From the Ashes. This is composed of audio ripped directly from the game files. I'm a bit iffy on the transition from the first phase section to the second, but I tried a lot of different things and this is by far the best I could come up with.

I don't know if the mute part is entirely accurate, given that our characters in Remnant are fairly talkative (just not to the extent of dialogue with NPCs being voiced, which would be cool if Remnant 2 decides to do that).

@@pwnsage True, the do have a tendency to yell "OH S#$@!" whenever they see a big enemy. perhaps "anti-social" is a better term.

@@pwnsage The player characters dialogue is little more then voice lines to let you know that you've finally dealt with the last enemy in the general area or the boss is dead. It's not exactly ground breaking stuff, but it does at least serve a very basic purpose.

The Remnant games' soundtracks are some of the best examples of leitmotiff usage done right. So many tracks manage to sneak in the Remnant main melody and its always implemented at a 10/10. Prime example is at 5:53. That buildup to the final crescendo of the chorus and orchestra blasting the Remnant Main Theme is PHENOMENAL. Like... holy shit its so good.

Yes I noticed that too even in R2 there's the Remnant 1 main theme hidden in some boss fights

@Gigachad6994 the boss fight Cancer from Remnant 2 uses the haarsgard theme here in it's OST since the boss shares an animation rig and movement with haarsgard

Gunfire Games: We're gonna need you to make a song for the last boss of this DLC. He's a weird tree dude with floompy looking arms. Make it menacing with a touch of heroic. Rob Westwood: Say no more fam 1:25 This dude didn't need to go this hard. Because now I'm sitting here hard.

to believe we'd hear this again in Remnant 2 in the form of Cancer. it makes me wonder if Cancer is what would've happened to Harsgaard if we'd allow him full transformation, than partial.

Either that or it's actually him, and Cancer is his punishment for failing the Root in From the Ashes

@@Bonez4127 ...If we only fight Cancer on Root Earth, which is presumably the original Earth, wouldn't that mean he succeeded at destroying all life on the planet for the Root?

@@mrbigglezworth42 I always thought that non-root Earth is where the Wanderer succeeded while on the Root Earth he failed, hence why Dying Ember, formerly known as Leech Ember was found on Root Earth. The question is, why the Wanderer succeeded in one reality but failed in the other?

@@vutuch4865 From what that big eyeball whose name I forget suggested, that Root Earth is the original origin point of the Root entirely, which would make OUR Earth a replica of it after it was locked away by the Labyrinth. So our Earth managed to have a chance to have a hero (the player character) show up to finally stop the Roots invasion whereas Root Earth never got that chance. Of course, the player character from Chronos:Before the Ashes allowed the Root entrance in the first place, so I guess we had to fix a problem we caused in the first place.

This entire game's soundtrack was very underrated, including by me. I very rarely ever actually paid any attention to the music, because the action is always so intense that I wasn't able to focus on it, but when you sit down to listen to it you learn that it's easily the equal of any other modern classic game soundtrack.

Remnant 2's OST is goated, but honestly, Haarsgaard's theme was NEVER topped. It is JUST that awesome.

Harsgaards first phase is so similar to Cancer that when I went back to play Remnant 1, I already knew somewhat of how to beat him. It certainly helps that he has a massive weakspot on his frontside rather then his backside.

Probably because Harsgaard is Cancer. Either Cancer is what's left of his body before we cut the Root off and his individuality was taken for his failure. Or. Cancer is Root Earth's Harsgaard which would explain why "Clawbone" only communicated with our Earth's Harsgaard and no one else.

Yea the first few seconds I encountered that boss in R2, with just the soundtrack alone I knew who I was dealing with.

Really hoping for some more of this energy in the sequel. I loved how unique and varied the first game felt. It had a bunch of different vibes and thematic ideas but didn't settle too much till this DLC. I'm betting the fire swordsman from the trailer is similar. Can't wait.

You gotten through yet? I'd say it's riddled with the same feeling but there's a certain boss that I'd recommend listening to in isolation if you've beaten it. Similar issue in 2 as with 1 where things move a bit fast.

@@Iudex333Yea I beat it pretty fast. Sadly a lot of the same thing, too many incredible ideas never fully flushed out. I'm not a fan of how they wrote off the first games protagonist and introduced a new one that is essentially the same character. It made my accomplishments from the first game feel less impactful to the story. Other than that, it's good. The ending was weird, but with the loose end that is Ford to keep the narrative moving the DLC has a chance to fill out the narrative more.

@@TheLeftCulprit It's a trend in this series to start the game off with a new protagonist for narrative purposes. In Remnant: From the Ashes we play the Wanderer who was looking for their fellow tribesman who was the first game's protagonist, the Destroyer. The Dreamer was the original protagonist from Chronos: Before the Ashes who we slay in the base game of Remnant: From the Ashes. Now we play the Traveler who has no connection to any of the first two main characters. Which doesn't bode well for the the Wanderer from the previous game and could hold more emotional wait if we find them deceased or worse taken over. Fun fact: Private Jack Driver (from the latest Remnant 2 DLC) and his unit were suffering from the Chronos: From the Ashes version of the world stones. Where the mechanic was the more you die the more you age. Sorry for the text block and thanks for reading but yeah while it seems like things don't connect most plotlines do but unfortunately you have to go far back to see them.

It would have been criminal not to. It's got that memorable heroic scale to it. Surprised it was in Cancer's theme and not in the Annihilation theme but hey they both went hard.
