The protagonist says the game console came out "a few centuries ago," but that they got it "at launch." This means the protagonist is several hundred years old! This just adds more questions...

@@shikabaneconga An ambiguous ending for an ambiguous game! Though I did enjoy the fact that the protagonist's motivation turned out to be as simple as it seemed, they just wanted the ancient incomprehensible eldritch evil sealed underground to stop messing with their forest.

This game just feels incredible, but i've got to ask, is there any lore to find that explains what /that/ is, or something that points to an alternate ending? Or is this all you have in mind for now? Awesome work!
@Chris-jl6vp4 жыл бұрын
A nice short and sweet adventure. The animation is simple but the artwork more than makes up for it. The character observations are also rather thought-provoking. He seems like an individual driven by curiosity, and needs to uncover the world's mysteries even after civilisation has fallen apart. If he can still remember things of civilisation, it was most likely not that long ago.

So the thing you find at the depths could be the "unification" of the whole ancient society, maybe they decided to trascend so they became "the place" by some sort of ritual, this explains why you can see tooth, bones and eyes in the depths. The protagonist is old enough to recognize the game, so maybe previous societies ended up separating from each other (and thus why he doesnt know about christmas and religion). His age could be explained by either an increase in human lifespan(either by evolution or science), or aliens living along with humans (thus why he/she refers to "humanoid shapes")

@@allkeai I assume she's referring to a magic circle, which from what I've read is usually what protects the caster from exterior forces/keeps things sealed away. Seems like they were punk/pop alchemists in the vein of Aleister Crowley's clique, and so they built a comfy underground lab to create homunculi, but evidently things went wrong- either someone was more serious about the homunculi creating than others, or some of them didn't know what they signed on for, or the newly created Homunculi had their own ideas about what needed to be done. The creations either mindlessly overgrown or died , and the remnant was a being so unnatural it is inimical to life- it feeds on everything around it, but doesn't realize that by consuming everything soon it has nothing to feed upon- everything's gone cold. The main character is a well intentioned moron in the vein of most protagonists, who all alone dives deeper and deeper into ruins with no plan, no supplies, and no interest of what they'll do when they've done whatever they'll do- and this leads to tragically realistic consequences for someone who goes "Man, if I jump down this pit there's no way I'm getting back up. Welp, better hop on down. Oh look, another point of no return? Welp, I got no where else to go now, let's go." And then attempts to politely ask the eldritch horror down there to stop doing whatever noodly things its doing.

Ok so...warning to a lot of you folks, I was gonna say this game is cool af and really cool to look at Spoilers: despite its relatively open to thought ending And it is ...however the game dev for it is the pinacle of disrespect. They legit verbally attack people accidentally misgendering them or the game protag (out of no ill intention ...cuz of course on the internet and a youtube letsplay video of a game you've never heard of with no fricking commentary you re expected to know their gender) lmfao. Good game, impressive work disrespectful short fused game dev. **Edit: they apparently apologized but point is. Don't act like this.**
@nebulousphantom85454 жыл бұрын
people are being extremely unfairly critical towards this dev over that. have you evaluated why you perceive a trans person being unhappy about being misgendered as mean and hostile? are you sure you would perceive it the same way if a cis woman was correcting people on her gender in the comments of a game she made?

@@alicemalice2597 getting mad at someone for getting mad at someone for being misgendered is incredibly entitled and childish, as well wouldndchaknowit? 1) June immediately moved past their (contentious) correction, and proceeded to politely answer the question of the person that misgendered them. 2) the person that misgendered them apologised. 3) transaction complete, would you like your (lack of) receipt in the bag? Your summation of the dev's behavior is reductive and throws any context or follow-up behavior away. We know that being misgendered hurts. They behaved in a hurt manner. The person that hurt them apologised. The conversation moved on. Lucky for that person, our opinions don't matter, and an individual life/career is not ended by a single * *GASP* * disagreeable action. If you accept that, you offer yourself that future mercy as well, because we're all a little disagreeable from time to time. Or as you put it- childish and incredibly entitled.
