Smashing, nicely recovered :-D i've had a few remotes to fix over the years, often the resonator had snapped off it's legs due to poor or no glue holding it down. (regular dropping). I linked a philips aluminium can i.r box that came from a vcr to a bargraph to show emission. Crude but very handy :-D

Somewhere I have an IR receiver that I used to connect to my 'scope, but I mislaid that in my workshop move. Will have to put together another one. I've also seen resonators with snapped legs, I mention that in the video, sometimes they can be soldered back on.
@zx8401ztv4 жыл бұрын
Yes i found you could dig some of the potting material out from around the pin and solder a strand of wire to the stub. Once the resonator was stuck down with bostic, a quick solder and they always worked :-) i just enjoyed repairing things, much like you do :-).

A good way of testing remote controls is to use an AM radio, hold the remote close to the radio tuned to a blank space, you will then hear the remote codes via the radio (if the button is making contact).

Hello, do you have remote control for PIONEER compact disc player PD-104? 🙂

A Poundland remote control would probably do that, see my video about them. kzbin.info/www/bejne/opPJhH6niJJlh6s

I actually have the Top Tel 1 universal remote, do you have the code list for the remote? I can't find it anywhere online...
@video99couk4 жыл бұрын
I do have the list but it is way too long to scan in. So I looked for some specific brands and numbers to see if there was a match online with any other 3-digit type remote, but I couldn't find any matches for a random selection of about 5 brands of TV. So they would seem to be unique to this remote. Shame because it's a very well made remote control, nicer to use than the Poundland Signalex one (I've done an in-depth KZbin video on that remote): kzbin.info/www/bejne/opPJhH6niJJlh6s

Hello. Could you tell me where I can buy a Remote Control unit for the Laserdisc Pioneer DVL-909?
@video99couk4 жыл бұрын
I think that's one which takes the "standard" code set rather than the enhanced set. A good universal remote control, or IR Blaster app on a 'phone, should do it. The £1 remote controls from our local Pound Shop however do not seem to support Pioneer Laserdisc.

so, i have the exact same LD player, and also need a remote. if anyone knows where i can get one, i'd be interested. also, who is stealing all the DVL-700 remotes?

Nice vídeo, Sir! I am struggling to find the RC of my Pioneer Laserdisc player CLD S201. I did not give up yet! I don't even know if there are other compatible models. Could you please help me? Thanks for your attention.
@video99couk4 жыл бұрын
That might take the "common" code set so almost any Pioneer LD remote may work. There's a 'phone app which will work with any IR Blaster equipped 'phone (or with an add-on IR), which will contain those codes, so research that.

I have a question i got scammed on a NTSC only laserdisc player i live in sweden where we have PAL and the majority of laserdiscs for sale here are PAL. Do you know if you can mod a NTSC player to playback PAL? would appreciate a reply
@video99couk4 жыл бұрын
Sorry but it would be non trivial to modify an NTSC machine to PAL, probably impossible for many models. Some models can do both but have extra electronics to do so.

Had one of these ceramic resonators fail in a Ferguson Videostar 3V23 (JVC HR7700 clone), leading to no clock display. Apparently, it was a common fault with those machines.
@video99couk4 жыл бұрын
I remember the chain driven eject mechanism more than anything else about the 3V23. I remember when someone I knew bought a nice new Sony TV, pressed number 5 on the Sony remote, and the 3V23 would eject the tape. Odd that since there wasn't even a button for eject on the 3V23 remote, but there clearly was a code in there somewhere. He had to buy a new video recorder.
@Oldgamingfart4 жыл бұрын
I think I would've got a new TV myself as I was quite fond of the 3V23! Indeed, very interesting that it must've had an eject command not utilised. I wonder if opening up the remote would've yielded any clues? Yes, the intriguingly over-engineered chain drive and the rubber rollers that needed sanding (official repair advice from Ferguson!). I recall one instance where our machine (which can only be described as temperamental at best), managed to quite impressively launch an E-180 almost halfway across the living room! Happy days :)
