I was taking summer university classes, living in a two-room cabin on the river. On my 25th birthday that summer, I had to evacuate ahead of flooding. I packed up everything that I could fit in my car and drove to my parents' house. Here in the US Midwest, 1993 was an epic flood year. For my 50th, I went on a roadtrip to Wyoming and Colorado, that was a beautiful trip, so much amazing nature, and highlighted by seeing Umphries McGee at Red Rocks Amphitheater outside Denver. Just a stunning venue, should be on everyone's list.

If it was 27 degrees, I’m surprised you didn’t freeze to death. I’d have icicles hanging off the end of my nose. We went to one of those islands in 1999 and it was completely covered with colourful hermit crabs. It was a balmy 85 degrees when we were there.

It seems to me that you did not see sharks, but the tips of the wings of manta rays, or stingrays. Because that's exactly what happened to me too. But then I realized that they were manta rays and ran to see them))

There’s a lot of tanks to keep the rain water, as it’s a tropical region even in the dry season you still get rainfall! 😃
