Nate - wonderful to follow you and your family on this adventure! Hope you are well...long ways from Bedford.

Lowney! Awesome that you’re watching. Yeah, not too many ocean sailers in Bedford I’d wager.

Thanks for another look at your adventures on the sea. A lot of us in different parts of the world, I’m in the UK, can only dream of doing what you are doing as we go along our routine lives. I look forward to the next video looking into your wonderful life.

I like your videos a lot! What are those big cushions on your trampolines called? Do they tie down so don’t get blown off at night or in a squall? How do they handle constant salt water? Thanks!
@sailing_scout Жыл бұрын
They’re ‘Fat Boys’. Yes - they tie down so they don’t go anywhere, even underway. They’re actually made to float, so they handle water well. But… sun + salt + time is hard on most things and the linings of the cushions are getting weaker. We’ve had to sew a couple rips. Thanks for watching!

So what are Kieran's thoughts on monohull sailing?
@sailing_scout Жыл бұрын
The kids mostly loved being w friends. Boat is an afterthought. He was quite struck by the heeling.

We are possibly going to move to a sailboat but I don’t know where to start editing videos how did you start ?
@sailing_scout Жыл бұрын
Slowly. One thing at a time but ultimately it’s just another learning curve. Good luck!

Oh man! Remote islands. Turks and Caicos. :-)))))))))))))) Drama King! :-))) What did you do before this gig? Wrote scripts for Dynasty?

If a boat is following you even after you change course, also not on ais it wouldn't be normal or exceptable to contact them on the radio in order to inquire their intentions while possibly being heard by whomever is also listening to broadcast?
@sailing_scout Жыл бұрын
For sure. Not sure if Megan did or not. I (Nate) wasn’t quite as concerned as she was. In other parts of the world - definitely.
@seabournewolf2298 Жыл бұрын
if only boats came with radios so you could call the other boats to see what their intentions are
@sailing_scout Жыл бұрын
Indeed. 😂 Boats aren’t always responsive but objectively, in this part of the world there’s not much risk.

@@sailing_scout There are pirates there. Piracy occurs around the world. There are places in which it happens more frequently but I'll tell you that the average pirate is just a poor fisherman who has something going on (sick relative for example) and they desperately need some quick money and then they see you and think rich American. When I have questionable boats and they dont answer the radio I use my horn and or I put my search light into their pilot house, that generally gets a good response. If they still dont respond I go down and get my AR and move to next steps. I have a 10 yr old girl I'm not playing no games with these people

Yeah, Kieran deserved the monohull exile for his lack of interest in the history of the most cruel slaver in the world. How could he!
