That was perfect timing. You were making the dough and I joked with my wife saying "wow... wouldn't it be nice having a husband that cooks.." and you immediately said your line about doing it all. She cracked. Great video. Cheers 🎉!

That video happened to be a Nate heavy stretch in the galley, but Megan does lots of cooking (and lots of other stuff) too! Thanks for watching!

What was the most beautiful part of this week's vlog? You didn't care when you got there. That is when you know you made the right decision for your family. Beautiful trip and see you next week when you land on Mother Earth again. Maybe they'll have some yogurt!

Yes! It’s a really long crossing, and Scout isn’t a racing boat, but we’re content with where we are, we’ll get there when we get there!

Relaxed and in the moment seems to be the routine on day 23! It’s nice to see you all relaxed settled in and at ease on your vessel. BUT!, it makes me a little edgy, I hate to say. Things can go topsy turvy in a moment at sea. Does everyone know what to do, when the unimaginable happens? Do you ever plan for emergency responses ? All the best!!, Worried in Florida

It is easy to take things easy after so many smooth days, but I’m constantly doing rounds making sure things are as they should be - checking the hulls, chafe on running rigging, any unusual sounds, etc… but yes, we have practiced mob and ditch drills should the worst happen. Thanks for watching!

I really like you guys showing your day in and day out routines, I just cannot wrap my head around how on earth you could plan meals for that long, and compile a shopping list to prepare for a long journey, I have a hard time figuring out what I'm going to make for supper. I love the question and answer would be nice for you to sit down as a family and do that. Till next week, stay safe and God bless

Thanks for watching and thanks for the suggestion! We do our best with meals, but sometimes they do get a bit limited.

Wow! Do you really only survive by making only 50 gallons every 3 days? That works out at a maximum of 19 litres per person per day? I'm impressed it can be done, considering that the average person in the west uses at least 80 to 120 litres per day! I must admit that I like at least one, if not two leisurely showers per day on board when I'm sailing and at a push can get by with an average of around 50 to 60 litres per day per person on the boat! Anyway, I'm vicariously enjoying your trip.

We do… drinking and doing dishes are our main uses while underway. We don’t use a lot of water showering or doing laundry. At anchor we tend to use a bit more - fresh water spritz after being in the ocean, for example. And we end up doing laundry more often. Thanks for watching!

Nice video! 1) what is the easiest way to calculate your 24h vmg distance, eg as crows flys waypoint to waypoint? Or do you go by total miles over ground (not vmg) using your chart plotter? 2) what size & weight (?nylon) fabric is your Code D? And what max AWS do you keep it up?
@sailing_scout

Thanks! I was tracking miles over ground via a chart plotter (or simply navionics on a phone / iPad). Code D is 105 sqm. Depends a bit in wind angle. It does fine up to 90 apparent, but I’d be more conservative with wind speed at the point of sail, as I’d be right on the edge of what it could handle angle wise. Broad reach or running sailmaker says up to 20 no problem, but I haven’t had that kind of wind yet. Thanks for the comment!

And yes - it’s a mix of 150/250 Nylon.
